Solved Intel Xeon Server Board Update Bios, Cant support current stepping Posted on 2004-05-14 Hardware 1 Verified Solution 6 Comments 2,191 Views Last Modified: https://communities.intel.com/thread/13126 2012-06-22 AHHH! so i finally decided to build my first server and like i said AHHH. I am using an Intel SE7501HG2 Bord with 2 matched XEON 2.4/533 Upon startup I am getting 2 quick sets of 3 beeps (quick) which i have found is either a memmory or processor error. Then after bios checks the scsi drives and memmory, i get the following error 8180 https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20990190/Intel-Xeon-Server-Board-Update-Bios-Cant-support-current-stepping.html bios does not support the current stepping for processor 1 8180 bios does not support the current stepping for processor 2 Well by the dates on the packages i can see that the processors were made after the board. So a bios update should solve this. I hope Here is intel's instructions http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/Detail_Desc.asp?agr=N&Inst=Yes&ProductID=926&DwnldID=7366 I dont understand how to make this boot disk. I have tried all the commands and it wont make it, in dos and in command prompt. I am trying to create it on a xp machine. Now if i create a dos only start up disk, and put in the xeon machine, it will load to dos. I can then insert the disk with the extracted bios files and view them in dos. here is a screen capture of the files www.cwtile.com/images/bios.jpg Im just not sure if this is the right way to do this. and or which file to execute. Im guessing it would be the AUTOECEC file. I dont want to turn a $600 board into a pretty piece of plastic. (say that 3 times fast :) So what would be the way to create a proper bootdisk for this with xp software
