Here is what it is: I recently decided to upgrade one of my computers with 2 extra GBs of RAM and ran into an issue. I installed the RAM correctly - asus m2n32-sli deluxe beep codes 1 long 3 short seating everything properly - but when I powered the computer on - I got the error beep. It was 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps. Now, the manual says that this means that no RAM is detected. Other sources say that this is a video error but I dont know which is right. I dont know or understand what the issue is because Ive tested the parts and they all work. I installed each stick of RAM in another computer and
Asus Bios Beep Codes
all checked out fine with the other computer booting up like normal. I also swapped out the videocard and still got the error beep. I ALSO cleared the CMOS and reset the BIOS using an onboard jumper. The error beep occurs no matter what I do or change. The videocard works, all the RAM is fine and tested, power supply seems okay, CPU seems fine, and no metal or cables are touching the motherboard in the wrong way so what on earth is going on? Is the motherboard shot? Please let me know what you think - if you need any extra info - let me know. Thanks. #1 latches, Jan 9, 2012 Prey2big Member Joined: Jan 24, 2011 Messages: 108 Likes Received: 0 How many sticks of RAM do you use? A friend of mine had one of those mobos and he could only use 2-3 sticks, eventhough the board had 4 slots. I think this was somewhat common a number of years back. #2 Prey2big, Jan 9, 2012 latches Member Joined: Jan 9, 2012 Messages: 156 Likes Received: 0 Well I tried using 4 sticks and thats when the error began. I then tried using one stick at a time and it didnt work. I used those same sticks in another computer and the computer worked fine. Now, just today I reset the CMOS again and tried to use 4 sticks again - did I cause the same issue by doing that
the beep codes for the P.O.S.T. of this board? (Or any other ASUS board, for that manner)? The reason I ask is that, months ago, I built a system, which ran flawlessly for
Asus Beep Codes 1 Long 3 Short
a couple of weeks, then failed solidly with a beep-code of 1-long 2-short. The award bios beep codes web was full of "solutions": 1-long 2-short = bad video adapter. Nothing in the mobo manual. Ordered and installed a new video card. Nope. Same problem. Back to the web, I found LOTS of the same misinformation. Also, one lone comment that went something like: "wrong. 1-long & 2-short is bad RAM" Replaced the RAM. Bingo! Yesterday, my 2nd M2N-E https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/asus-m2n-e-sli-error-beeps-1-long-2-short-added-new-ram.2218551/ gave me a 1-long 3-short beep-code. The reboot went fine, but the problem may revisit me. I thought that, before I start tossing out video cards, I'd see if I could find an absolute authority on the beep-codes for this board. My search on ASUS's website for either "Beep" or "post" turns up nothing. Is there someplace on ASUS's website where the correct beep-codes are listed? Or elsewhere? It'd be nice to know. So I http://www.motherboardpoint.com/threads/m2n-e-beep-codes-general-question.188225/ don't have to go down the garden path again. And again.
