I used the procedure above, and managed to print two pages - it worked with card and 130gsm paper, but not normal 80 gsm paper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCWovhoAqDM Then it started coming up with errors 'paper jam open tray' or 'unable to clean - 35' again.I followed the instruction above again, to purge, i also reset 'flush' and one of the 'jam' codes (I think it was something like ADP JAM:0002 - was that bad???!!)Any advice? I am desperate, have to hand in a presentation on Tuesday and it's bank holiday weekend! The printer is MFC 6490CW.A word of advice - DO NOT PUT TRACING PAPER IN THE PRINTER, THAT'S http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/45085 WHY I'M IN THIS MESS! by Anonymous on May 23, 2009 at 11:17am Add comment Please sign in to comment 1 i installed a new black cartridge and the printer still does not print black - the one i replaced was only half gone - thank you for your help. by unknown on Oct 26, 2009 at 6:38pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 What is the actual machine error code number you get. Hi,Thanks for posting your question ,My name isXXXXX will try to help you today. Please remember this can be a hardware fault and I hope you will not blame me for the hardware fault and give me negative rating(less than 3 star or smiley). The message "Unable to Clean" is a general message and may appear for different reasons. To clear the message, you need to disconnect the Brother machine from the power outlet to check the machine. As a first step before you start to follow the steps to clear the message, we recommend you check if the machine has faxes in its memory following the steps below:Step1: To clear the message follow the steps listed below: I think, you have already tried this steps , so you can skip this step to check for foreign objects, such as a paper clip or scrap of paper, inside the machine. Unplug the machine from the power outlet and open the scanner cover by pulling up on the lower right corner of the cover. Look inside the machine and remove any foreign objects. If you see jammed paper or another item inside this area, gently pull it out and then close the scanner cover securely. Caution Before you unplug the machine from the power source, you can transfer your faxes that are stored in the memory to your PC or another fax machine so you will not lose any important messages. For details, please see the instructions in the Step 2. If the error continues to appear, the machine may have a mechanical problem. If the error message continues to appear, the machine will need to be reset. Resetting the machine will erase all faxes in the memory and the Fax Journal Report. Please make sure you have followed the instructions in the Step1. If the error still continues to appear, move the print head and examine under the print head. NOTE : The images shown below are from the rep
