Robert M. is online now Brother MFC-6490CW printer -paper jam message keep returning Customer Question HI I have a Brother MFC-6490CW printer. The message "paper jam" does not disappear although: - I cleaned every corner inside the machine - followed carefully the Brother FAQ regarding paperjam, including cleaning the encoder strip - I used pressurised clean air to remove dust everywhere. (clean air I use to clean the sensor of my DSLR) The error remains. Any other solution? thanks for the help BR DirkPS: when restarting (open close the top cover) 1 blanc paper is feeded through the printer well, then the paper jam error occurs, then the paper is feeded out, and the printer stops. It looks like the printer is dedecting something but everything is cleaned well , and no paper or other obstructions are present. Submitted: 3 years ago. That can happen if the tray or paper is not inserted perfectly. or if the roller than moves it in gets worn down smooth. i have had good success roughing that up with sandpaper or making very very light cuts in it with a razor blade. just enough to make it rough enough to grab the paper againORthe sensor that tells the printer the paper is feeding correctly is broken. That requires repair. Ask Your Own Printers Question Customer: replied3 years ago. hi1 = done for hours, checked every corner = no parts remaining for sure2 = paper is picked up without problems. I know your solution but feeding of the paper is not the problem. even without trays, the paper jam error arrives before telling that the papertray is empty. Therefore this is not the problem3 = do you know where this sensor is located? that would be a start of finding/locating the problem. Expert: Robert M. replied3 years ago. There are several sensors that could cause it. I dont know exactly where. What
