Category:Printers Share this conversation Expert: Russell H. replied5 years ago. It is possible that you have a defective black ink cartridge from the manufacturer. It is also possible that you placed your finger on the contacts of the cartridge while placing it in the machine - the contacts must be perfectly clean for the cartridge to operate. So - if all four of the cartridges you replaced were genuine original / OEM Brother-made cartridges from brother mfc 210c the same supplier (and not remanufactured / refilled) then you just plain need to 1. clean the black cartridge's contacts (usually on the side, copper-colored... do not touch the ink pores on the bottom of the cartridge with much of anything, or you will ruin the cartridge for certain), by removing the black cartridge after turning the printer Off, and after moistening a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol (or any other alcohol-based solvent with minimal or no residue upon drying). Use the cotton swab to clean every one of the contacts on the side. Then put the cartridge back in the printer, turn it On, and try it again.2. If that does not restore function, you might want to remove the black cartridge again and inspect the contacts inside the printer, that the black cartridge's contacts fit against... are they dirtied in any way? if so, clean them similarly (making sure that the printer is turned Off and unplugged, for safety, first!). Then try the black cartridge again.3. If that does not clear the problem, then you should return the black cartridge to the supplier as defective under warranty, as soon as possible in case the warranty coverage from the supplier expires soon.If this helps with the problem and answers your question, then please click once on Accept for my Answer.
