I too have experieced this problem. I infact had to swap the game 4 times to finally get it sorted. I spoke with Activision and they have me http://www.compatdb.org/forums/topic/32843-call-of-duty-1-error-message/ a possible answer, Try this, Copy the PAK files from disc 2 to your PC. 1) Place Call of Duty disc 2 in the CD-ROM drive. 2) Open My Computer. 3) Right-click on the Call of Duty CD and select Open. 4) Open the Setup folder on the CD. 5) Open My Computer again. 6) Open the Call of Duty folder on your hard drive, C:\Program http://www.modtheater.com/threads/cmod_loadnodes-children-exceeded.11175/ Files\Call of Duty. 7) Copy the MAIN folder from the CD-ROM drive into the Call of Duty folder. 8) If prompted to overwrite files, do so. Thats the info they sent me. And It seems to work. I still have trouble on ONE multiplayer map (Rocket) which I hope to fix when they release a patch. Hope this helps. voodoo, Nov 21, 2003 #3 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.) Show Ignored Content Share This Page Tweet Your name or email address: Do you already have an account? Below is a list of basic tips for CoDUO mapping. Meshes - Terrain & Patch When building your outside ground, always use Terrain Meshes. The most important thing to remember when working with meshes, Terrain or Patch, try to keep your vert count low. If you create all your meshes at a high vert rate, you will get a "max verts exceded" error during compile, which will prevent your compile from finishing & lighting. Patch Meshes are used for roads (optional), and building structures that would be too difficult to build with brushes, such as rounded bridges, arches and the like. Same rules apply, keep the vert count low, or you will get a "max patch planes" error during compile, which will prevent your compile from finishing & lighting. CSG Subtract tool Lots of mappers will tell you to avoid this tool at all costs because it will cause Node Without a Volume error during compile, but cannot explain why. What this basically means is that the engine cannot tell where a brush begins & ends, hence an infinite brush. The current theory (suggested from one of the modsonline.com people) as to why this happens is because Graydiant measures everything in units, all incriments of 1, no fractions. The CSG Subtract Tool cuts brushes between these units, creating fractions, which the engine cannot handle. I personally have yet to see if this is true, but many mappers claim to have lost maps due to this error, so I figure better safe than sorry. Avoid it.
