missing font has been substituted." "[filename] uses fonts or characters which are not available or are in a different format than originally specified." Reason In revising Arial Narrow, Microsoft added new name fields for the "preferred" family and style, andintroduced the behavior wherein all four Arial Narrow fonts are labeled as having the same style (e.g. "Narrow" instead of "Narrow Bold Italic"). Solution Solution 1: Install an updated version cannot find or create the font arial narrow from Microsoft. Close any Creative Suite application. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956514 and follow the installation instructions. Search your system for adobefnt*.lst and delete any of these files; example, adobefnt02.lst. Restart the application. Solution 2: Replace Arial Narrow version 2.35 with previous version font files (version 2.30 or earlier). Quit all Adobe applications. Locate the Arial Narrow font files in the C:\windows\fonts folder and confirm the version of the font files: ARIALN.TTFARIALNB.TTFARIALNBI.TTFARIALNI.TTF Double-click the font file to open the font preview and display the version number. Solved My girlfriend got a music score PDF file somewhere but the Acrobat Reader failed to read it probably, reporting error like "Cannot find or create [font_name] ! Some text may not be
Cannot Find Or Create The Font Helvetica Adobe Reader
displayed correctly". Something like that.Obviously that's a problem of missing font. Thanks cannot find or create the font arial bold to the powerful Google, I find a free download of that font and a potential solution. Here is what I have adobe reader cannot find or create the font century gothic done:Download and install the font by copying the TTF file to %windir%\FONTS (normally that means C:\Windows\FONTS). If I am right, you can also access that folder through the Control Panel.Close all https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/arial-narrow-unavailable-incomplete-cs.html Acrobat Reader windows, and then reopen the file.It may already work magically. But in order to make sure it works, I also followed what suggested in the potential solution page by deleting the font list before 2. This force Acrobat Reader to rebuild the font list cache. To do so, browse to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Cache on XP, or C:\Users\AppData\Local\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0\Cache on http://notes.theorbis.net/2009/05/solved-acrobat-reader-cannot-find-or.html Vista. Note that the folder is hidden, but simply copy the path here, replace with your username and paste to the location bar of your Windows Explorer should work. The path may also be slightly different if you are using different version of Acrobat Reader. Finally you just delete the file named AcroFnt09.lst. To play safe you may also consider renaming the file instead of deleting it. You will see a new file of the same name created after relauching Acrobat Reader. The major difference in my case to the potential solution page mentioned above is that I didn't restart the computer, and I wasn't prompted for installation when I reopen Acrobat Reader.Hope this helps. | Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest | | 14 comments: Anonymous12 May, 2011 09:54Nice. Favorite Rating: Acrobat Reader gives error "Cannot find or create the font 'Arial'"This document (7000798) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document. Environment SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED) Acrobat Reader installed from SLED distribution. Situation Acrobat (PDF) document received through email or some other means. Document most likely generated on a windows system. When opened the error: "Cannot find or create the font 'Arial'" is displayed. The document is displayed with dots rather than characters. Resolution On a Windows system copy the file "C:\Windows\font\arial.ttf" to the SLED system under the directory"/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype". This can be done on a flash drive, CD, or some other common directory area which can be accessed from both systems such as an FTP server, shared Windows (samba) drive, etc. Once the file is copied over to the SLED system, run the following command as the root user to make the new font available to the system: SuSEconfig --module fontsAt this point, Acrobat Reader should be able to open the PDF file without problems.
