Photoshop instantly rasterises eps files when it opens them. If you think there may be text or vectors in the image then DO NOT open it in Photoshop. You should get the person who sent you the file to either send you a .psd file (if file created in photoshop) or a .ai file (if created in illustrator
them? Win or Mac? Probaby more importantly, how did you get them? If email from a Macintosh, could be the prob right there. Any idea what caused this and what I can do in order to view it? Thanks, E. WIlkerson Thu, 20 May 2004 14:02 Gernot_Hoffmann (Photoshop expert) Evelyn, http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1545362 a corruption might mean "somewhat destroyed". That can happen if the file was transfered as an E-mail attachement. But often it´s a file which wasn´t made according to the PostScript standards. I would try to open the file by PageMaker, InDesign or CorelDraw (no personal experience with CD) or other programs. If it looks good then save again as EPS. He wants to print an eps document exported from VectorWorks. When I try and open the eps document I get the following error message "Could not open *doc name* because the parser module cannot parse the file." Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Even if you could open it by PhS - it would be rastered. The student should try Export to PDF in the source program. Or Print as PostScript to File and distill. Then print directly from Acrobat or place the PDF in any other (professional) DTP program. We could overcome all problems like yours in AutoCad by this workflow. Best regards --Gernot Hoffmann Fri, 21 May 2004 10:29 Chris_Brobin (Photoshop begginer) Thanks Gernot, Exporting the file as an eps from vectorworks into photoshop has worked fine with other students having similar problems. It's just since I re-installed that it's not working. What is 7.01 update for? anita_clement@adobeforums.com Guest August 19th,03:44 PM #4 Re: Parsing Error OK I fixed the problem. It was in Photoshop. Under preferences I had to set my Image Preview setting to "never save". Now it works. anita_clement@adobeforums.com Guest August 22nd,05:43 AM #5 Re: Parsing Error Installing the InDesign Updates (2.01 and 2.02) also eps cannot parse fixes the problem.
