Reset Canon Mp160
comment 0 I get the same error. It seems that with infrequent use, a low end printer lasts me from 1 to 3 years. This one started the bogus paper jam thing about 6 months ago. It is a nuisance. I took the thing apart to see if anything obvious is wrong. I could not find anything to explain this. I managed to power up the printer, while it canon mp160 reset ink level is apart, to witness the behavior. I notice a lever that interrupts an optical coupler appears to mechanicaly be functioning, when the paper passes by the paper grabing rollers. Since that appears to be the only indication for the printer to know if paper is even there, I am guessing that there must be some timing event measured from when the paper mechanism is activated, until the photo lever is actuated by the paper. Perhaps the mechanical timing has changed slightly over use, and now the photo switch is not sensing soon enough. I have no idea how to adjust such a timing in this printer. This is all just my two cents worth. I may end up having to break down and buy another printer. I have tried Epson, HP, and Canon printers, they are all junk. by fartblossom on Nov 26, 2008 at 12:00pm Add comment Please sign in to comment Sorry about your kindred printer woes. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement smileaway Thread Starter Joined: Aug 24, 2007 Messages: 1 Hi all, I am getting an erroneous paper jam message from my canon MP160 that I can't get rid of. The message says that "Error number:1300. Paper Jam. Removed the Jam paper and press the start button on the printer". I have reset the printer and the computer. They didn't help. I am using a imac, but the problem is definitely in the printer because it gives the message even without being in contact with the computer. Thanks, smileaway, Aug 24, 2007 #1 daddrie Joined: Oct 7, 2003 Messages: 6 HI, Possible repair for E3 warning code PIXMA MP160 Paper Jam which does not exist. Have you run a 3 paper clean procedure? if not try that. Try a thin cardboard A3 size and run that through the printer. If this has not fixed the E3 jam, then I call it a E3 phantom Jam. It seems to be a serious problem for Canon PIXMA MP160 printers. Several web searches shows me this is a big problem. Finding help seems to be very scarce on the ground with this one. However, today (as I'm also suffering from the same fault), after seeking help and being told, take the printer to a service agent (100Klm away) I baulked. I have taken my PIXMA printer apart 3 times now, so this access procedure does work. Remove the power cable, and the USB cable. Take the printer to a solid table. Beware there are many small screws that have to be located. Warning, this may not fix your MP160 PIXMA, you might break a wire, drop something, or loose a screw, its your responsibility what you do from this point on, not mine. 88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888 Reading from this point on it is assumed you have taken the responsibility upon your self. WARNING OK, YOU need to take your printer COMPLETLY APART to "fix?" this E3 error. You will need a philips screwdriver (magnetised would help). a small knife Remove the paper flip, lift up stand from the rear, and the flip down door from the f
