Over the last 6 bmw cd changer no disc error months, I would get CD ERROR when trying to play a CD. Pop the magazine out and push back in; all is well again. This would happen about once a month. Now I simply get NO DISK when trying to play CD's. Any idea's? Replace magazine? Replace entire changer? I've tried unplugging it with no change. The car is 66k on it. If unit replacement is in order, then I have no problem switching to iPod setup. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Last edited by

I just bought a used Honda Civic and the stupid thing isn't working. "Hallo Herr.... vermutlich sind bei Ihrem Gerat zwei Micro-Schalter verschlissen. Bitte klopfen Sie einmal wahrend dem Ladevorgang kraftig auf das Gehause. Mit ein wenig Glück, wird der Wechsler jetzt wieder funktionieren. Sollte dieses Problem haufig erscheinen, müssen Sie das Gerat zur Reparatur nach Stuttgart schicken. Die Anschrift lautet: Alpine Service Ried Kolner Str.34 70376 Stuttgart Mit freundlichen GrüBen, Customer Support Alpine Electronics GmbH Frankfurter Ring 117 80807 München email: support@alpine.de" So you have to push or shake your cd-shuttle while loading the cds. I can tell you: In my case it helped and I can listen to the CDs as well as before. Best regards from Southern Germany. Richard Han Unregistered guest Posted on Saturday, October 23, 2004 - 21:02 GMTI tried this but it didn't quite work; but based on the explanation, I tried to use my fingers to digitally stimulate some of the moving parts... and it worked! A few weeks ago my CD player (6 disc trunk mount) stopped playing CDs, shows "No Disc" message on the console even though the magazine is full. Seems this is a common problem, found something to try here: http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=57464 So I opened up the CD changer unit and lubricated the gears. A CD is selected and moved over to area to be played, but it never starts to spin, so it is then moved back to the stack. Then the next one is loaded and returned, etc., until they are all gone through. Bad motor? Dirty laser lens? Any ideas welcome. _____

Not 100% sure whether this is the right place for it though, so moderators - if you believe this should be somewhere else please move it. First of all this is only provided as advice and you cannot hold me responsible to any damage you do to your car or accessories. You might want to disconnect the car battery before removing the changer, however I don't. This is common sense, but I'm going to mention it anyway: Be firm but gentle. You don't want to break anything. Keep your screws and other small bits safe, you don't want to lose them. Also remember which way parts go after you remove them. My changer is Alpine and I'm not sure how other variants would differ. First of all start by removing the CD changer from the boot. You don't need to remove the trim completely, just remove it enough to be able to reach the 4 screws holding the changer in position (2 on each side). Undo the screws and be careful not to lose the metal pieces that are on the reverse side and tighten the screws. After you do this unplug the cable (there's a little "button" to press on the connector which will make it easier to pull out) and take the CD changer out. If those instructions aren't clear enough and/or you'd like pictures let me know and I'll do my best to get some. The next steps are best done indoors. First thing you need to do is remove the front plastic cover. To do that push the 8(4 on top a
