used a burnt CD and I bought the vehicle from a private owner. Once in awhile, the player will play and then the next time it reads err. I wonder if there is a special http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/17028-silverado-cd-player-error/ setting or button I should be pushing. bruzer8008-03-2003, 06:11 PMAlso am having this problem with my 97 Bravada. Very frustrating. Haven't found a solution to it except to maybe replace the CD player. Any solutions you've heard of? canul8r08-08-2003, 01:14 PMI purchased a delco cd radio off ebay and installed it only to find out that the cd player did not work. I kept getting a err message. There is a place http://www.automotiveforums.com/t71591-cd_player_problems.html in Houston TX called Dr Dons: www.doctordons.com/carstereo.htm He was able to repair, deliver, and warrenty it for a year for around $170.00 Good luck airforceone08-21-2003, 02:53 AMMy parents had the same problem with their delco Cd player. Just replace it, it's cheaper. my Pop put a basic Pioneer in the delco's place and hasn't had any problems since. And $170 is too much for a factory deck. canul8r08-21-2003, 05:03 AMYes it would be nice to have a purty new toy in my rig. But, sorry I like to keep my stuff oem. It was pay $1200 for a new radio or $170 to have the old one repaired. I chose the latter. It's all choice. Have a good one. WileyCoyote09-07-2003, 08:19 AMI had problems with my cd player 2002 Silverado , message ERR , radio still worked but CD's would eject back out in 2-3 seconds and I would hear something buzzing even with truck and radio turned off. My warranty was out and the dealer wanted about $400. The buzzing got to bothering me, so I took the fuse out and in for the radio in the driver side dash corner, still messed up. Then I raised the hood and removed the radio fuse from the big box on drivers fender then

Whenever i put a cd in the player it gives me an "err" code. Everything else works fine. Im sure i just need to reset to system with a code from the dealer. However it seemed to be a fairly common problem and I just wanted to see if anyone knew any simple fixes! Judged: 14 Reply » Report Abuse Judge it! Branch United States #2 Nov 30, 2006 I had the same thing happen, but, fortunately it was still under warranty and the dealer replaced the whole deck. Reply » Report Abuse Judge it! Let me know if you did-- Judged: 7 Reply » Report Abuse Judge it! RonH Norman, OK #6 Apr 6, 2007 I had the same thing happen in an earlier vehicle. I was told then that the "err" code is generally an inability to read the media due to a failure of an electronic component or a misalignment of the lens. You could try looking for someone who can service CD units, but I imagine the solution is replacement. Reply » Report Abuse Judge it!
