published, help is on its way! My check engine light is on but code reader indicates no error codes? Report This by Manage My Life June 19th, 2012 I drive a 2000 Dodge Dakota with the 4.7 magnum motor. My check engine light came on for two days then went check engine light on but no codes found out for another couple of days before coming on a second time. I put fresh batteries in check engine light on but no codes honda my code reader and linked to the on board computer but it tells me there aren't any error codes. Why? The truck is running fine. I keep check engine light but no codes stored it well maintained. The only problem I know of is a very slight coolant leak that I believe is from a freeze plug on the back side of the block. I have to pull the transmission to repair it so I've just been topping

off the coolant level as needed until I get to the repair. Since I've had this leak for a couple of months prior to the check engine light coming on I don't believe the two are connected. I've used my code reader successfully in the past to diagnose and repair a TPS sensor. Are there any known problems for this make and model that would cause the check engine light to come on but not indicate any diagnostic error codes? Any suggestions are appreciated. Share it! Most vehicle manufactures also have their OEM codes that some Readers and Scanners can't see. Check the make/model of your reader to see what it can perform. by Manage My Life June 19th, 2012 Answered in 11 minutes Comment 0 votes Generally if the light is coming on and no codes are stored the processor that triggers the light is faulty or the circuit is shorted to power. disconnect that circuit from the ECU if the light goes off probably an issue with the ECU, if the light stays on look for a short to power on that circuit.

The Check Engine light was on in the past and I have used the Bavarian Autosport Code Reader to read fault codes, fixed problems, and the light off for good. However, recently it is on but the Code Reader shows no fault code at all. Tried to find root causes for a while and gave up. I took it to a local independent reputable BMW/Mini Specialist shop who hooked it up to his "fancy" computer, and was not able to fix (turn off the light), verified that there is no fault code, gave me a printout (Dealer Service Bulletin) that the problem is in the software and can only be fixed by the dealer, and charged me $200+ (for "troubleshooting). Before taking it to the dealer, just want to pulse if anyone had the same problem as I described (check engine light on, but no fault code). What did you do to fix it? By th
