drive media drive error system Cyberat_88Jul 5, 2011, 8:28 AM Ok, first things first, do you have a Floppy Drive on your PC ?If no, go to Bios, in the Basic section remove the floppy drive. If yes, go to Bios, in the Basic section and set error to ignore floppy. This will bypass fixing the problem and let you use PC.You can check your floppy data cable to make sure it's inserted properly with no broken teeth and that bios checksum error beheben the cable is connected the right way (not inverted - it will have light on all the time when it is inverted), same cable inserted right on MB.Most likely the key to enter Bios will be DEL, some have F2 or otherwise specified. We decided to bring it http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/showthread.php?103683-Drive-A-Error-System-Halt up and have it in the office for a secondary computer for offline purposes. When we took it down (about two years ago) everything worked fine. We plugged it in, set everything up, and suddenly when it tried booting we got a message saying Drive A Error System Halt followed by beeping. We replaced the Floppy Drive, same thing. We replaced the power supply, same thing. I am currently waiting for my son to return with a new battery for the motherboard; however, I do not believe that is the problem (don't want to rule out something that easy to fix though). The BIOS is not accessible as the computer refuses to boot without the floppy drive. The computer was custom built in 2001 and I do not know all the specifications. If anyone knows anything about what could possibly be causing this, please let me know. *Edit* Son just returned with new battery, same result. Last edited by Flourchild; 03-10-2009 at 12:02 PM. It appears I had a bad memory stick. I cleared the bios and reloaded it using the jumper. I then pulled both membory sticks and them around. Suddenly it seemed to be loading, then stopped with the same Floppy A media error. I played with clearing the bios and swapping in one memory stick. It finally worked. I left the problem memory stick/board out and it is working fine. Happy to hav
