You can install that with the following command: sudo apt-get install libudev0:i386 This package was removed from Ubuntu in 14.04. You will need to install it from an older version. share|improve this answer edited Jun 6 '14 at 15:23 answered May 1 '13 at 13:42 Sean 43739 Oh, that's a much better solution, thanks! –senshikaze May 2 '13 at 17:07 3 no package found when trying to looking for libudev0:i386 any ideas ? –Jonathan Jun 3 '14 at 21:10 18 I ended up doing sudo apt-get install libudev1:i386 and then sudo ln -sf /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libudev.so.1 /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libudev.so.0 –Phil Strong Jul 9 '14 at 15:56 helped me , thanks –dzgeek Jan 15 '15 at 10:35 2 Please install the old version from here: packages.ubuntu.com/precise/libudev0 –rub

Was in F17: /usr/lib/libudev.so.0 -> libudev.so.0.13.1 Now in F18: /usr/lib/libudev.so.1 -> libudev.so.1.1.5 Please correct it. Comment 4 by andrew.p...@gmail.com, Oct 24 2012 Processing I confirm this issue. After update the /usr/lib/libudev.so.0 symlink disappear and Chromium (and Google Chrome) fails to load. have continued to use Ubuntu beyond those 30 days and now will try to post how-to's, help, and other Linux (Ubuntu) thoughts here) http://my30daysoflinux.blogspot.com/2014/06/google-chrome-error-while-loading.html Thursday, June 12, 2014 Google Chrome: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.0 After upgrading http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21504890/cannot-run-sample-apps-missing-libudev-so-0 from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 14.04 my Google Chrome Browser stopped working. It wouldn't start when I clicked on it in the Unity Launcher so I opened a Terminal Windows and tried to start it there by typing ingoogle-chrome.When I did this I got the following error; /opt/google/chrome/chrome: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.0: cannot open shared chrome error object file: No such file or directory What the hell do you do? Reinstall Google Chrome right? Wrong, that didn't work. After some internet searching I found the following Terminal Commands that worked like a charm. You only need to run one of these commands. Which one depends on which 'bit' version of Ubuntu you have 64-bit or 32-bit (mine is 32-bit) Open a Terminal Windows and type ONE of the below commands. chrome error while 64-bit fix sudo ln -s /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libudev.so.1.3.5 /usr/lib/libudev.so.0 32-bit fix sudo ln -s /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libudev.so.1.3.5 /usr/lib/libudev.so.0 FIXED!!!!!! I have installed the editor on ubuntu linux. when I try and run any of the sample files I get this error box: Could not launch browser - process terminated while trying to connect. Try closing and running Dartium instances.: Dartium stdout: /home/xxx/Apps/dart/chromium/chrome:error while loading share libraries: libudev.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I have followed the step by step instructions at code.google.com for installation and run all of the pertinent scripts. I have also installed chromium via apt-get and pointed to it in the tools menu. Still get the message. Where do I get this missing file? or is something else wrong? ubuntu install chromium share|improve this question asked Feb 1 '14 at 23:11 user3261574 62 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote I found here the answer. Basically, first I had to install the libudev-dev package and after that I created a link to point to libudev: sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libudev.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libudev.so.0 Be happy! share|improve this answer answered Apr 3 '14 at 10:11 rafantastico 265 My terminal says that this path does not exist!! –dcdeiv May 12 '15 at 12:00 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote The official solution PreparingYourMachine on dart wiki is somewhat complicated. If you have already installed Chrome with Google's deb installer (I installed Chrome with "google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb" which is downloaded from Chrome website), there is a simple way to resolve this problem: sudo ln -s /opt/google/chrome/libudev.so.0 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libudev.so.0 Works on Linux Mint 17 x86_64. PS: I met a "404 not found" error when install libudev-dev with aptitude. share|improve this answer edited Oct 8 '14 at 1:26 answered
