On the Citrix StoreFront Server (Server 2008 R2), in RemoteApp Manager, the http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/366174-cannot-connect-to-xenapp-server-protocol-driver-error-when-launching-apps/ Digital Signature Setting did not have a certificate assigned. I set it to use the storefront self signed certificate and apps now launch externally. Go to the full post
Laban Milyard Members #1 Laban Milyard 6 posts Posted 17 June 2015 - 07:29 PM Just finished an installation of Xenapp 7.6 with Netscaler 10.5. I am able to login and am presented with a list of apps. However, when I try to launch an app I get "Cannot connect to the Citrix Xenapp Server. Protocol Driver Error." I do have an old citrix xenapp server 6.5 running in production completely seperate and in order to get everything to work without breaking ssl I have the new Citrix Netscaler external IP mapped in my hosts file. Is it possible that it's somehow trying to connect to the old server? Netscaler and Storefront are using 2 different FQDNs. StoreFront is using a self signed certificate. Netscaler is using a third party certificate. Apps launch fine internallyDeveloper Network (CDN) ForumsCitrix Insight ServicesCitrix ReadyCitrix Success KitsCloud Provider PackCloudBridgeCloudPlatform (powered by Apache CloudStack)CloudPortalDemo CenterDesktopPlayerEdgeSightEducationForum PrototypeHDX MonitorHDX RealTime Optimization PackHotfix Rollup PackJapanese ForumsKnowledge Center FeedbackLicensingLTSRNetScalerNetScaler E-Business CommunityNetScaler Gateway https://discussions.citrix.com/topic/345397-cannot-connect-to-the-citrix-xenapp-serverprotocol-driver-error%E2%80%9D/ (Formerly Access Gateway)Profile ManagementProof of Concept KitsProvisioning ServerQuick Demo ToolkitReceiver, Plug-ins, and http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/273322-unable-to-launch-your-application-protocol-driver-error/ Merchandising ServerSecure GatewayShareFileSingle Sign-On (Password Manager)SmartAuditorStoreFrontTechnology PreviewsTrial SoftwareUniversal Print ServerUser Group CommunityVDI-in-a-BoxWeb InterfaceXenAppXenClientXenDesktopXenMobileXenServer Discussions Support Forums Programs Citrix Insight Services Insight Services for XenApp Javascript Disabled Detected You currently have javascript disabled. Opening any published app in Windows gives this: "Unable to launch your application. Contact your help desk with the following information: Cannot connect to the Citrix XenApp server. Protocol Driver error."The strange thing is that the published apps run fine from a linux box Firefox browser using the version 11 plugin. The Windows desktops with either 11 or 12 plugins / online app give the above error. I was thinking that changing the IP address of the server might have caused it, but it did work for a week before the problem above. I've tried both domain users and local anonymous users with no luck. This is just a simple single server install with Direct connections. (no Secure Gateway service)The X
