Citrix Xenapp Cannot Contact The License Server

Started by Rob Stephens , 14 January 2014 - 03:04 PM Login to Reply 9 replies to this topic Rob Stephens Members #1 Rob Stephens 31 posts Posted 14 January 2014 - 03:04 PM Presently, all my sessions are connected as they should be, but when looking at the logs I see a recurring error: "Error %1 received while obtaining a license for a Citrix XenApp client connection. A grace license has been granted" I am running Server 2012 R2 with XD 7.1. I am licensed for 380 users. This error shows even when I RDP into the server. The RDSH license server shows per User licenses are being checked out. GPO controls RDSH settings in the server and set the FQDN of the license server and per use. I ran Get-BrokerSite and it is showing: License edition as PLT (correct) LicenseModel as UserDevice LicensedSessionsActive as 68 (matches current sessions) RDSH is showing 60 licenses in use, but some users use different servers. To me that means they will only have one RDSH license used, but the sessions would be higher since they are using more than one. This was reported by the xml services address xmlBrokerAddress.”The following events might be logged in the server’s System Event Log: EventID: 9014 Description: The licenses required by this edition of Citrix Presentation Server are not present on the license server LicenseServerName. EventID: 9017 Description: This computer running Citrix Presentation Server will now stop accepting http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX123372 connections. This server is no longer in or could not enter a licensing grace. EventID: 9026 Description: Error errorNumber received while obtaining a license for a Citrix Presentation Server client connection. A grace license has been granted. EventID: 9027 Description: Error errorNumber received while obtaining a license for a MetaFrame client connection. The license request has been rejected." Solution This issue occurs when network communication between XenApp server and License Server is affected for any reasons. Citrix recommends to examine the health of the network connectivity between the affected XenApp server(s) and the License Server. In some cases, examining the log files and diagnostic tools of the network equipment revealed high amount of errors such as CRC errors. Replacing network cables, faulty switches or moving the servers to different switch ports can resolve the issue. Updates have been released to increase resiliency of XenApp to network problems and delays.Citrix Licensing - Latest downloadIf the latest updates are applied and the communication problem occurs, the XenApp Server will re-initialize the connections to the License Server. This returns the persistent connection between the XenApp Server and the License Server to a stable state, if no further network problems occur. It is important t

Please contact your system administrator or open event viewer for more details. The alerts are generated when your citrix servers lose connection with the citrix error 9026 metaframe license server. The citrix servers will continue to run until the grace period expires, unless they are able to communicate with the license server again. Once your citrix servers have successfully communicated with the license server, you should receive the below or something similar within your event log. This server is successfully communicating with the license server. Citrix Presentation Server has left the grace period There are a few basic tasks you can carry out: 1) Ensure the citrix licensing services are running. If you need to locate you citrix license server, see link in step 3. If the license server is running go to step 2. 2) Restart the IMA service on your Citrix servers 3) If the above does not resolve issue, restart the license services on your Citrix licensing server. If you don't know which server holds the citrix licensing role, see http://www.sana-tech.net/blog/?p=1713 4) If any of the above do not resolve your issue, check your citrix licenses have not expired. On your Citrix license server, access Start, Programs, Citrix and Citrix license console. If they have expired you need to renew. Otherwise go to step 5. 5) From your citrix server, open a command prompt window and telnet to your citrix license server on port 27000. Please note, the port may be different,
