I followed the steps in seasides great doku HOWTO Time Machine setup for OS X 10.8.x added one extra share for testing and startet AFP. After connecting to the share in Mac OS Client I got following error: Code: Select allSomething wrong with the volume's CNID DB, using temporary CNID DB instead.Check server messages for details. Switching to read-only mode. After a little googleing I switched cnidsheme from "default" to "dbd". The share was accessable, but I had a strange log and 100% CPU load. For testing I reverted the steps for the TimeMachine share and deleted the other share. So I think I have the condition as before and still I have full cpu load from cnid_metad and following strange log:Code: Select all10:42:51 last message repeated 8722167 times

Kind Regard Simon Myron 2012-01-01 23:04:42 http://www.nas4free.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2635 UTC #4 If you do that you stop AppleTalk.  The remaining protocol that remains is SMB.  The soliution does not cure the problem. It shuts down the problem so the problem is still there. The solution within the MBL is not permenent.  You can just as quickly turn on AppleTalk by using "/etc/init.d/netatalk start". If you're using a MAC then some things might https://community.wd.com/t/my-book-live-home-network-drive-cnid-metad-1823-error-in-accept-socket-operation-on-non-socket/55695 stop working between the MBL and any Apple manufactured devices. There is no harm in trying.  simonjhb 2012-01-02 08:49:54 UTC #5 Hi Myron Thanks for the quick reply, since I dont use the twonkey or itune server  is it posible to go back to the previous firmware and how, I think it was much more stable as a samba file server. Kind Regard Simon Myron 2012-01-02 14:35:05 UTC #6 I would be weary going back to a previous firmware. I've noticed from the update logs that one or more configuration files have also been upgraded/re-written so going back to a previous version could result in a bricked MyBook Live. glalonde 2012-01-15 00:30:57 UTC #7 link offending log to /dev/null ln -s /dev/null daemon.log thus daemon.log will take 0 space on drive even if it is written too all day long. simonjhb 2012-01-15 07:27:47 UTC #8 Hi the command shuld be  ln not ls.
