Compile Error In Query Expression Access 2007
Access 2003/XP/2000/97, I tried using the Left function in a query and I get the following error: "Compile error.in query expression" I've seen this function work in other Access databases. How come it does not work in mine? Answer: This error can be caused by multiple scenarios. Let's look at two of the most common causes. Option #1 This compile error in query expression access 2013 error can occur when there is a broken Reference in your Access database and you've tried to use one of the built-in Access functions such as Left, Instr, Len, Year, Mid, etc. To correct the problem, you need to open your Access database. Press Alt+F11 to open the Microsoft Visual Basic window. When the Microsoft Visual Basic window appears, select References under the Tools menu. When the References window appears, check to see if there are any References checked that start with "MISSING:". If there are any, uncheck these References. Then click on the OK button. In this example, we want to uncheck the reference called "MISSING: Microsoft Word 9.0 Object Library". If you, in fact, need this Reference, go back to the References window (Tools > References) and re-check the reference. Click on the OK button. Now your Access database should have fixed the broken references and the error message should disappear. In the event that there were no References that start with "MISSING:", uncheck one or more of the existing References. Make

Hello Forum, I compile error work for a very large corporation. Today morning when I logged into my computer it asked for a reboot because of recent auto-update. This is a normal routine every month for corporate-wide Microsoft patches. Long story short - for the first time, after rebooting, all my MS Access 2000 queries that have any function in it, stopped working. I tried to create simple queries with function (e.g. select trim(FieldName) from TableA) to test, access compile error but with no luck. The error I get is: Compile Error. in query expression 'trim(FieldName)'. Somebody told that I was missing few links to some library references. I didn't know which ones so I reinstalled MS Access 2000 thinking it should resolve the problem. But again with no luck. Can someone help please... In general, this compiles and runs fine, but on seemingly random occasions while the program is running, it generates a compile error saying that that field was not found. But the field always existed on the form's RecordSource, so why was this happening? Solutions There are a few ways to avoid this problem: Change all the Me. to Me! which is the proper way to reference a field in VBA code, if there is no control bound to this field. Create an invisible text box that assigns its ControlSource to that field, give the text box a different name (e.g. txtComments), and reference the text box in code. Deploy the database so its compiled state cannot be changed (ACCDE or MDE) We prefer the use of the invisible text box so that we can reference the control name via the "Me." syntax rather than "Me!". The "Me." syntax is verified when the code is compiled so that a typo with the control name is caught. This is preferable to a runtime error that gets triggered when the user encounters that line of code. But Why? Though we knew how to fix this, we were curious to understand why the compilation wasn't consistent across users. It also didn't fail when a specific event occurred. It seemed almost random when the compile error arose. And the form triggering the error seemed perfectly fine with a reference to a field that exis
