When building your DVD Studio Pro projects, do you ever get this error message? The best way to deal with this situation, is to simply delete your preferences. We do this by going through the Finder > User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.dvdstudiopro.plist and putting it into the trash. Empty the trash and restart. It is important to remember to write down your preferences or back them up before trashing them. That way anything specific you might have changed for your particular project will still be available. No one can say exactly why this error message happens; it could be any number of things from encoding to destination settings. But trashing the preferences seems to do the trick. In some cases others have had to reinstall the software. I was having an issue even getting this project to save because it was originally created in another account on the same computer. Finally got it to save and was able to work on it, but it won't let me build. I get this compiler file error maddeningly non-specific error message. Reply Quote danajstrom Re: Compiler File Error on Build August 06, 2009 03:04PM Registered: 9 years ago Posts: 47 Compiler error usually has to do with read/write permissions (would make sense since you've got multiple accounts going on)... check the location of where you've set your build (in preferences OR in the build/format box -whichever you're dealing with)- it may be in a folder that your account doesn't have write access privileges to... Try creating a new folder on your desktop to build to- that ought to work temporarily - the real solution is to work out the appropriate read/write permissions from an administrator level on your machine. I have a MacBookPro, FCP 6.0.5, scratch disk is an OWC On the Go Hitachi 300GB firewire drive. This is a relatively new phenomenon. Does anyone know the remedy for this? Tags: None Guest #2 09-15-2009, 08:14 PM Hi Jane, How is the drive formatted? Use Disk Utilities to verify the drive. Check the permissions for the drive settings in info. Comment Post Cancel Jane Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Posts: 127 #3 09-16-2009, 06:39 AM Hi Tom, The drive is MacOsExtended(journaled). I verified it is ok. I inadvertently found a workaround for that moment: I changed the render scratch disks to the internal hard drive and then back to the OWC. I then was able to render the one dissolve that I needed. It still seems to be working today. But I'm guessing the file error could reappear since I don't know why it went away. As I understand it, the media drives should not be journaled. Could the journaling be interfering with the rendering? gretta Downtown Dailies/blue studio Documentary & Advocacy Video Madison WI Comment Post Cancel loren Member Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 413 #6 09-16-2009, 03:45 PM What Tom and Gretta said, plus check for any odd punctuation in the clip name-- any / or \ or
