Posted on 2005-12-13 Fonts-Typography MS Access 3 Verified Solutions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjuipNx76uI 21 Comments 2,948 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-03 We have an Access 2003 application with several reports. One of the reports is complex with 10 sub-reports, each of which is printed conditionally based on user selection. This report has been working just fine for 3 months on 20 users' PC's all running Windows XP SP2. Two days ago one of the https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21663918/Font-initialization-error-Very-strange.html users told us that this one report was failing with an error: "Font Initialization Error." The only option on the message box shown is "OK." Soon after, 2 other users also had the same problem. And today a fourth. However, most other PC's are not having this problem. Our sysadmin maintains all systems to the same software level. In fact, nearly all the systems are physically identical. The four PC's that have the problem are hardware- and software-identical to several systems that do not have the problem. The sysadmin has done these things: reinstalled printer drivers, reinstalled all fonts, updated all software to be sure it is current with all patches. No help, the problem still remained. Further, he set up a brand new system with a new install of XP SP2. The problem showed up there. We tried printing to different printers, and get the same error. Also when we just print to a PDF writer. These two facts seem to argue that it could not be a printer driver. Further: I had previously copied each subreport a
go try for yourself. Take a look in the Fonts folder of the system. Are there more than 50 fonts in there? If yes, then you need to delete http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/font-initialization-error-solution.2293841/ all the fonts that are not needed. I use Font Frenzy and it will https://helpx.adobe.com/framemaker/kb/fm_2015_mathml_font.html remove all un-needed fonts and leave you with the Windows Base Fonts that are required. Reboot your system and start Access. Access will go through the standard "new setup stuff" when its done you should be able to print. My expereince is that Windows will start and load every installed font into memory, then when configuration system you start Access, it loads every font back into memory a second time. Too many fonts and not enough resources. Jason Shannon , Dec 16, 2005 #1 Advertisements Show Ignored Content Want to reply to this thread or ask your own question?
