The first time I try to connect to my database server is successful, but after closing my application and starting it again I get: 2003, can't connect to mysql server on (10060) Can't connect to MySQL server(10060)" After some time (approximately 30 minutes), I can successfully connect to the database again. I have given maximum values to all of MySQL system and global variables like connection_timeout, wait_timeout etc. I have granted all permissions to my MySQL user. The firewall on my computer is turned off. All connections are properly closed when the application closes. I have asked the technical people who provide the Online MySQL Database service and they gave me these three reasons: The local machine from where you are trying to connect is not whitelisted on the server. The maximum number of connections for the user has been exceeded. The MySQL server was down at the time (though they said that their server was not down). How can I solve the first two reasons, or determine that they are the cause of the problem? Or could there be another problem not listed there? mysql connectivity share|improve this question edited Mar 2 at 10:11 Paul White♦ 29.1k11162260 asked Mar 1 '15 at 11:24 Ashok Gujjar 28114 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote Most probably this is a networking side issue and the database service provider needs to create a new rule in firewall (iptables). Still we just need to confirm

I doubt it is however. Very likely to be a NAT problem. –jweyrich Apr 30 '10 at 12:51 @jweyrich: You were very right, the ISP have blocked all ports but 21, 80 and 3389. –Anonymous May 1 '10 at 9:12 add a comment| 7 Answers 7 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote I suppose your mysql server is running on Windows...thus open a DOS window and type: netstat -an You should find a row like this: TCP 0.0.0.0:3306 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING This tell you that mysql server is running and listening on TCP port 3306. Another test you can do is to telnet (from another pc) to your mysql server: telnet ip_mysql_server 3306 This should open a telnet session: Connected to server_name. Escape character is '
MySQL forum. http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?34,49742,239961#msg-239961 I found the problem: i had not added the MySQL Server port in firewall's exception list. //<-------part https://indiandeve.wordpress.com/2009/08/04/mysqlcant-connect-to-mysql-server-10060-from-remote-client/ 2 Actually there is no MySQL error with no. 10060. The http://www.codeproject.com/Questions/283184/Cant-connect-to-MySQL-server-on-localhost actual error no. is at the begninning of the error message.(may be ERROR 2003 etc.) Typically this kind of error message you see due to authentication issues. There could be many reason: 1. The MySQL server isn't running. 2. Port at which MySQL server is listening connect to is blocked for you. 3. Port at which MySQL server is listening cann't accept any connection from outside world due to Firewall. Actually if it is a problem due to Firewall, no need to turn off firewall, you just have to include MySQL listeining port in to unblock/exception list of firewall. If your MySQL server is running on connect to mysql windows xp, following is the way to deal with firewall problem: 1. Go to Control Panel -> Windows Firewall (Windows Firewall dialog gets open.) 2. Go to Exceptions Tab and click on ‘Add Port…'(Add a Port dialog gets open.) 3. Give the appropriate name.(e.g., MySQL) 4. Give the listening port of MySQL.(Most commonly 3306) 5. Also make sure TCP radio button is selected. Here is the complete tutorial on how to add a port to Firewall exception list on windows xp. If sill problem persist refer MySQL documentation, on mysql website for problem regarding MySQL server connection problem. //-------> modification history: 1.
