Re: Acrobat failed to connect to DDE Server dave_m_k May 9, 2011 2:53 PM (in response to CMeisinger) Good failed to connect to dde server adobe reader day Chris,I'm not sure if you're having diffuculty w/ Acrobat or w/ Reader. Regardless, this issue is most commonly related to file associations. As the user to do the following:Locate a PDF on the system via Search (any PDF will do)Hold down the Shift key and right-click the PDF file > Select 'Open with..'Select either Acrobat or Adobe Reader (depending on which application is actually installed)Check the box at the bottom of the dialog box that says 'Always open with..'If the issue persists after trying this, repair Acrobat or Reader. This can be done via the Help > Repair menu option.Regards,DavidAcrobat Community ManagerAdobe Systems 1 person found this helpful Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: Acrobat failed to connect to DDE Server CMeisinger May 10, 2011 8:26 AM (in response to dave_m_k) Thanks David,I did check the file associations and did a repair and uninstall/re-install and nothing worked but it turned out to be an issue with turning on a security policy in Symantec Endpoint that was causing Adobe to not open so I had to remove that policy in order for Adobe to work again. Thanks,Chris 1 person found this helpful Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. When I look in the processes I see acrobat running. So I kill the process and then the pdf opens fine. Not sure way the first time opening the pdf she gets the DDE Server error then it will work after that. thanks Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Adobe fatal error Adobe Acrobat error 1648 Adobe Acrobat 10 Error   1 2 Next ► 26 Replies Serrano OP BTS9345 Apr 7, 2011 at 2:05 UTC Not sure which version of Acrobat you are using but this might be helpful: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/416414
