resolve an ldap issue that my users are having in outlook 2007. We are presently in the process of upgrading from office 2000 to office 2007. The problem did not occur in outlook 2000. The problem is: In outlook 2007, if http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/ldap-error.3687096/ a user does an ldap search on approximately 6 or more users, and than tries sending the message, a Microsoft LDAP error message pops up: "Error 52: Cannot connect to internet directory service (LDAP) server fc.hwcdsb.edu.on.ca. First check your network https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23493143/Unable-to-connect-to-LDAP-server-with-Outlook-2007-OK-with-Thunderbird.html connection. Than check your LDAP server settings: On the tools menu, click account settings, click the address books tab, click the directory name, then click Change or Remove to modify or delete the directory." I have googled the message, and connect to there is next to nothing on this. There was something i found that said to remove the ldap entry for fc.hwcdsb.edu.on.ca. which is not an acceptable solution. Is there a difference in the way outlook 2007 handles ldap, than the way outlook 2000 handled it? Would anyone know how to get around this? I have checked the event log, on the workstations and on our exchange 2000 server...there is nothing. fc.hwcdsb.edu.on.ca is a firstclass conferencing/email system. I have called there connect to ldap support, and they were unable to see any issues on that system.....which i believe since outlook 2000 does not have a problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thx. I wrote this before seeing your post that you intended to move the thread to this newsgroup from the .contacts newsgroup. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook], Dec 4, 2008 #3 Paul Guest The problem was actually first noticed when sending through a distribution list...which is why I had posted in contacts originally. After thinking about it awhile and viewing existing posts in contacts, I thought it would receive more attention in the general questions newsgroup(where more ldap type questions seem to be posted). My apologies for the confusion and no offense taken. Paul "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outl

Solved Unable to connect to LDAP server with Outlook 2007 - OK with Thunderbird Posted on 2008-06-17 Outlook Windows XP 2 Verified Solutions 4 Comments 3,118 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-21 I am trying to setup Outlook 2007 Address book to use a company ldap server. This is straight forward with Thunderbird and works without fail. When I try to set up and use Outlook 2007 I get "Error 81: Cannot connect to Internet Directory Service (LDAP)server: xxx.xxx.xxx." I have checked and rechecked all the settings and am using the same setup as in Thunderbird. The settings under Tools > Account Settings > Address Books are: Server Name: ldapserver.com Server requires me to log on - not checked. Under " More Settings" Display Name : Ldap Server Port: 636 Use SSL checked Under Search Tab: Custom: o=xxx.com The only difference I see when I try to use the Thunderbird client versus the Outlook client is that Thunderbird asks me if I want to accept the self signed cert. Outlook does not. Is there any thing else that needs to be setup for outlook to use the ldap directory? This is on a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine. 0 Question by:credog Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Active 2 days ago Best Solution bycredog I answered this one myself. It seems that if the server certificate isn't signed by a Microsoft known CA, Outlook will not connect. I downloaded the the CA certificate and imported into the Trusted Go to Solution 4 Comments LVL 20 Overall: Level 20 Outlook 7 Windows XP 3 Message Assisted Solution by:jdera2008-06-17 Here you go: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836205 0 Message Active 2 days ago Author Comment by:credog2008-06-17 jdera, Already saw that article. It basically says to "Verify that the settings for the LDAP server are correct." I need more than that. The settings are the basically the same as Thunderbird installed on the same machine yet Outlook refuses to connect to the LDAP server. Thanks Anyway 0 Message Active 2 days ago Accepted Solution by:credog2008-06-23 I answered this one myself. It seems that if the server certificate isn't signed by a Microsoft known CA, Outlook
