TECHNOLOGY IN THIS DISCUSSION Join the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I am the IT Manger for a company that has 5 offices and they use Remote Desktop to get between the multiple servers. I have a few computers having an issue getting into one server connect to that is 2008 R2. When they type in the IP address and try to connect they get "Because of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer. Verify that you are logged on to the Network, and try connecting again." I can then remote right in to a different server with no issue. I can try to remote in at the exact same time from another computer and can get in without an issue. Its connect to the not a user rights issue since this error comes up before it even gets to asking for a username/password. Any thoughts on what could cause this? Thanks for your time. I can see my computer name is set up correctly as "JoshPC" (for example), and there don't appear to be any conflicts with other PCs names. What could be going wrong? I've flushed the DNS cache on the PCs attempting to remote in but no luck. Edit: The PCs are on the same network as each other I've tried ipconfig /registerdns and received no errors (although not waited 15 mins yet) ping -a [IP] gives the right name I've tried using the fully qualified computer name remote-desktop dns cache computer-name share|improve this question edited Oct 7 '09 at 8:30 asked Oct 7 '09 at 8:06 Josh Comley 1,587123042 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 9 down vote accepted I hope you are connecting from a machine in the same network and both are Windows.
