I should make the http-proxy-host and http-proxy-port under a [group] so that it is taken into account only when I am at home, and not considered when I am elsewhere... Now, the question is how to specify the [group] in /etc/subversion/servers so that it knows that I am at home or not... svn ubuntu https proxy checkout share|improve this question edited Mar 6 '12 at 22:25 asked Mar 6 '12 at 19:04 SoftTimur 2,12882874 Are you using the same computer at home and at work ? I tried with different machine but I obtained every time time the same error: svn: OPTIONS of 'http://svn.macports.org/repository/macports/trunk': could not connect to server (http://svn.macports.org) I can't understand the problem, the address is http so I think that is a problem of subversion with http address (the repository is the one for Macport for MAC OS but I think that the problem is not about the repository but is a subversion problem) svn mac-osx could not connect options share|improve this question edited May 17 '11 at 15:52 Shane Madden♦ 91.3k6107181 asked May 17 '11 at 15:44 benza 162 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote As it says, it could not connect to the server. That address works just fine, so do you have any web filtering, or a proxy configuration that allows your web browser to access that URL, but isn't configured in your SVN client? share|improve this answer answered May 17 '11 at 15:51 Shane Madden♦ 91.3k6107181 I don't think so, I'm able to ping the address svn.macports.org (also I can open the address from Safari), so I supposed that it was not a connection problem. Is there other way to verify if there are web filtering? Anyway thanks for the answer! –benza May 18 '11 at 7:17 1 A proxy (with direct connections blocked) would allow your browser to access the url, but not the SVN client. Try telnet svn.macports.org 80 - if that fails to connect, then that's the cause. –Shane Madden♦ May 18 '11 at 13:58 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy poli
