Solved Vmware - error connecting to authd on host Posted on 2009-11-19 VMware Virtualization 1 Verified Solution 3 Comments 2,026 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-08 We have Virtual Center 2.5 installed on https://communities.vmware.com/thread/448491?start=0&tstart=0 a server - VManager. Nown when the VIC is run on that machine and we try to connect to the console of any of our VM's (spanned across 2 hosts) we get an error " Error connectin to authd on host ESX01/ESX02". When I connect to Virtual Center from the VIC installed on another machine I'm able to connect OK. What is the simplest fix (cause?) for this? 0 Question https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24914351/Vmware-error-connecting-to-authd-on-host.html by:agradmin Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Active 1 day ago Best Solution byagradmin Problem solved - once the VIC was upgraded on this machine the situation resolved itself. It needs to be on the same subnet or routed to your workstation. You can configure a seperate SC for management. 0 LVL 6 Overall: Level 6 VMware 2 Virtualization 2 Message Expert Comment by:eabeukes2009-11-26 Check DNS and HOSTS file entries contain pointers for ESX01/02 on the VManager server. 0 Message Active 1 day ago Accepted Solution by:agradmin2009-12-14 Problem solved - once the VIC was upgraded on this machine the situation resolved itself. I connect to am getting the error connecting to authd on host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in the VI client window. Until recently I have been able to connect through the VI Client andweb ui. Nothing on the ESX server has been changed or updated. I have tried different laptops to connect through the client andweb interface. I connect to localhost get mixed results. Some of the laptops were able toconnect through the client and web ui and others get the same authderror. This leads me to believe that something on the laptop(s)(Microsoft) arecausing my issue. All of the laptops are using Windows XP SP2, IE 8,.net 3.5 sp1. I have tried to find dll's that are different in version#, but nothing has surfaced. Has anyone had problems with certain Microsoft fixpacks or other updates or versions of Microsoft software that caused their vmware client to stop functioning correctly. Thanks for any help!!
