hosts file. You can also perform a remote factory reset of your device to get it working again. Steps Part 1 Editing Your Hosts File 1 Quit iTunes. Make sure iTunes is completely closed before proceeding so that the https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203122 changes you make take effect. 2 Open the hosts file on the computer. Error 3194 most often appears when you are trying to update or restore your iOS device through iTunes, and iTunes cannot connect to the Apple verification servers. This is common if you have jailbroken your device in the past or are trying to downgrade iOS. Windows - Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and double-click the hosts file. Select "Notepad" from the list of available programs. Mac - http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-Error-3194-on-iOS Open the Terminal from the Utilities folder, type sudo nano /etc/hosts, and press ⏎ Return. This will open the hosts file in a text editor. 3 Find the bottom of the hosts file. You'll be looking for an Apple address at the bottom. A standard hosts file will not have any lines without a # at the front. 4 Look for a .74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com entry. This redirects the signature verification process to the Cydia servers.[1] It is the presence or lack of this redirection that is causing the error. What you do next depends on whether or not you can find this line: If you have 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com at the bottom of the file, add a # to the front. If you don't have the line, add 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com to the bottom of the hosts file. 5 Save your changes. This should allow your iPhone to make the connection properly.[2] Windows - Click the File menu and select "Save." Mac - Press Ctrl+O to save and Ctrl+X to quit. 6 Open iTunes and attempt your restore or update again. In many cases, the changes you made to your hosts file should allow you to proceed. Note: If you're trying to downgrade to a previous version, it may not be possible with the version of the firmware you have downloaded. Try a normal restore using the firmware downloaded directly through iTunes. 7 Put

I have connect to nearly 4GB of photos and videos on my phone, and I want to put them into my computer's pictures folder. I have opened Windows Explorer and found the photos in the weird location Computer\Torbens iPhone 4\Internal Storage\DCIM\800AAAAA, but I cannot copy or move the files from here to a local folder. When I try, Windows says "Error copying file or folder. The parameter is incorrect." I have synced with iTunes but don't see where iTunes would have made a backup copy of the photos. This connect to itunes is immensely frustrating. I can't believe it has to be this difficult and I must be missing something, but I don't see what that is. 1) How do I get my pictures off the phone and onto my local disk? Also, it would be so much simpler if Windows would just assign a drive letter to the device, just like it does for my digital camera and any other USB storage I connect. Is there any way to make Windows do this, or is Apple being restrictive again? 2) How can I get a drive letter assigned to the phone? (Less important but mighty annoying.) Details: iPhone4, iOS 4.1.2, iTunes 10.5.1.42, Windows 7. Update: Am I understanding correctly that neither of the sync nor backup functions in iTunes backs up the photos? iphone itunes windows backup photos share|improve this question edited Dec 2 '11 at 20:54 asked Dec 2 '11 at 6:38 Torben Gundtofte-Bruun 1,745133145 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted I have the same problem you have: I can copy the items one by one, but I cannot bulk copy 10 more items. To solve the problem, I use Picasa to import my iPhone photos, instead of using Windows Explorer copy.
