If you're getting error 10060, this means aws mysql 10060 that you ARE NOT ALLOWED to access the web server remotely. Usually we (I mean, I) access the mysql databases using php and 2003, can't connect to mysql server on (10060) this is on the SAME server. Thus we use 'localhost' to connect. But if you were to for example access the same web database using a local machine running VB, the story is different. First, here's what you should NOT

do. I'm saying this because I noticed some responses had these as action steps. So, 1. DON'T change any ports 2. DON'T close existing ports and reopen new ones as it may affect other apps. 3. DON'T disable any firewalls. Now here's what you MUST do: 1. on your connection string, make sure that you're using the SERVER'S correct IP. On the other hand, you can use the domain name, and this is what I do. 2. The rest mysql workbench connection error 10061 of the parameters are the same. I mean they're what you want or have set. 3. NOW the critical thing. First you've got to tell your web server that you need to accept remote connections. You can easily do this using the cpanel. When you're asked for the remote host name, type in % (the percentage sign) to mean ANY HOST. 4. Finally, you may have to tell the web server's firewall that you're making a remote connection from your machine. To do this, cpanel allows you to add your own IP into a 'white list'. In most cases, cpanel shows you a list of class C IPs and your one should be there. Select it. Save the settings. Now go into your app and run the program - eg: in VB. Should work just fine! MySQL forum. http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?34,49742,239961#msg-239961 I found the problem: i had not added the MySQL Server port in firewall's exception list. //<-------part 2 mysql cpanel Actually there is no MySQL error with no. 10060. The actual error
Error 2003 Can't Connect To Mysql Server On 'localhost' (10061)
no. is at the begninning of the error message.(may be ERROR 2003 etc.) Typically this kind of error
Connection Failed: Can't Connect To Mysql Server On (110)
message you see due to authentication issues. There could be many reason: 1. The MySQL server isn't running. 2. Port at which MySQL server is listening is blocked for http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?34,49742,239961 you. 3. Port at which MySQL server is listening cann't accept any connection from outside world due to Firewall. Actually if it is a problem due to Firewall, no need to turn off firewall, you just have to include MySQL listeining port in to unblock/exception list of firewall. If your MySQL server is running on windows xp, following is https://indiandeve.wordpress.com/2009/08/04/mysqlcant-connect-to-mysql-server-10060-from-remote-client/ the way to deal with firewall problem: 1. Go to Control Panel -> Windows Firewall (Windows Firewall dialog gets open.) 2. Go to Exceptions Tab and click on ‘Add Port…'(Add a Port dialog gets open.) 3. Give the appropriate name.(e.g., MySQL) 4. Give the listening port of MySQL.(Most commonly 3306) 5. Also make sure TCP radio button is selected. Here is the complete tutorial on how to add a port to Firewall exception list on windows xp. I followed all instructions and tutorials about how to reach MySQL server remotely. Everything was fine till i get an error that says: [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver] Can't connect to connect to mysql MySQL server on 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' (10060) I searched for a solution over the net for hours but still there is nothing makes sense about it.. I double checked my connections.. I can ping to my static ip, but cant reach the MySQL server in it. From CPanel i can reach my db with phpMyAdmin. I tested my db and there was nothing wrong with it. Everything seems right. Except i still get the error message with VB6 My connection string: Dim conn As ADODB.Connection Dim constr As String Private Sub OpenServer() Set conn = New ADODB.Connection constr = "Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};" & _ "PORT=" & db_port & ";" & _ "SERVER=" & db_server & ";" & _ "DATABASE=" & db_name & ";" & _ "UID=" & db_user & ";" & _ "PWD=" & db_pass & ";" & _ "OPTION=3;" & _ "STMT=;" conn.Open constr End Sub So how can i resolve this damned connection issue? and What are the odds that causes this? mysql vb6 remote-access share|improve this question asked Sep 10 '12 at 10:37 Berker Yüceer 2,084123978 It quite clearly says that it can't connect.
