From the cmd window, I run "mysqlshow -u root -p". It asked for a password, then returned this error: "Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)" This is a bad indication of partially failed/successful installation. After reading the page, http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/windows-troubleshooting.html, it told me to find an error log (.err) in C:\Program http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10892689/cant-connect-to-mysql-server-on-localhost-10061-after-installation Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\data. The directory exists but there is no log file. I have a feeling this is related to the tight security of Windows 7, especially when installing a Unix based software. And yes, I am the Administrator on my PC. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. And I can return a favor by answering Java and SQL query questions. mysql windows windows-7 share|improve this question asked Jun 5 '12 at 6:31 The Original Android 4,01531223 It more sounds like you supply an invalid username/password when trying to connect. –Cyclone Jun 5 '12 at 6:33 well, root as username is supplied by the installation so that should be valid. And I did not set a password for root, at least not yet, for ease of use for now. –The Original Android Jun 5 '12 at 6:43 1 Your are sure that the MySQL server process is actually running? –glglgl Jun 5 '12 at 8:17 3 From the documentation: (10061) indicates that the network connection has been refused. You should check that there is a MySQL server running, that it has network connections enabled, and that the network port you specified is the one configured o

I have downloaded MySQL Workbench 6.1 on my connect to windows 7 x64 and now as I want to start and do a simple DB I set a new MySQL Connection and let it as default the Hostname, port and the username I just set the name of the connection. In the beginning it was showing down in the action output that Could not connect.Server may not be run and in the msg part it was written Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (10061) but I thought I would be able to do a DB connect to mysql and test it Then I created simple DB and when I wanted to execute it I couldn't press the Bolt which execute the DB so I tried from Query and I pressed the 2nd option which is "Execute(All or Selection) to text" as I couldn't choose any other option and this error was shown Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (10061) (2003) I am new in this I have used SQL*Plus for a while but it is not the same. Thanks in advance. mysql database localhost mysql-workbench windows-7-x64 share|improve this question edited May 22 '15 at 5:59 Jens 37.5k112848 asked Jul 2 '14 at 7:52 Zee E. 78139 Looks like the mysql serveer is not started. –Jens Jul 2 '14 at 7:58 ya it seems so, so how can I start it? –Zee E.
