The first time I try to connect to my database server is successful, but after closing my application and starting it again I get: Can't connect to MySQL server(10060)" After some time (approximately 30 minutes), I can successfully connect to the database again. I have mysql workbench connection error 10061 given maximum values to all of MySQL system and global variables like connection_timeout, wait_timeout etc. I have granted all permissions to my MySQL user. The firewall on my computer is turned off. All connections are properly closed when the application closes. I have asked the technical people who provide the Online MySQL Database service and they gave me these three reasons: The local machine from where you are trying to connect is not whitelisted on the server. The maximum number of connections for the user has been exceeded. The MySQL server was down at the time (though they said that their server was not down). How can I solve the first two reasons, or determine that they are the cause of the problem? Or could there be another problem not listed there? mysql connectivity share|improve this question edited Mar 2 at 10:11 Paul White♦ 29.7k11167267 asked Mar 1 '15 at 11:24 Ashok Gujjar 28114 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote Most probably this is a networking side issue and the database service provider needs to create a new rule in firewall (iptables). Still we just need to confirm few things from the provider. As the behavior is not steady (on occasion you can connect, and sometimes not). So its not a user privilege issue (GRANT ALL ON ...) Make sure they have included MySQL listening port in to unblock/exception l

kind of error message you see due to authentication issues. There could be many reason: 1. The MySQL server isn't running. 2. Port at which MySQL server is listening http://dba.stackexchange.com/questions/94102/remote-mysql-connection-fails-10060-cant-connect-to-mysql-server-on-domain is blocked for you. 3. Port at which MySQL server is listening cann't accept any connection from outside world due to Firewall. Actually if it is a problem due to Firewall, no need to turn off firewall, you just have to include MySQL listeining port in to unblock/exception list of firewall. If your MySQL server is running on https://indiandeve.wordpress.com/2009/08/04/mysqlcant-connect-to-mysql-server-10060-from-remote-client/ windows xp, following is the way to deal with firewall problem: 1. Go to Control Panel -> Windows Firewall (Windows Firewall dialog gets open.) 2. Go to Exceptions Tab and click on ‘Add Port…'(Add a Port dialog gets open.) 3. Give the appropriate name.(e.g., MySQL) 4. Give the listening port of MySQL.(Most commonly 3306) 5. Also make sure TCP radio button is selected. Here is the complete tutorial on how to add a port to Firewall exception list on windows xp. I followed all instructions and tutorials about how to reach MySQL server remotely. Everything was fine till i get an error that says: [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver] Can't connect to MySQL server on 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' (10060) I searched for a solution over the net for hours but connect to mysql still there is nothing makes sense about it.. I double checked my connections.. I can ping to my static ip, but cant reach the MySQL server in it. From CPanel i can reach my db with phpMyAdmin. I tested my db and there was nothing wrong with it. Everything seems right. Except i still get the error message with VB6 My connection string: Dim conn As ADODB.Connection Dim constr As String Private Sub OpenServer() Set conn = New ADODB.Connection constr = "Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};" & _ "PORT=" & db_port & ";" & _ "SERVER=" & db_server & ";" & _ "DATABASE=" & db_name & ";" & _ "UID=" & db_user & ";" & _ "PWD=" & db_pass & ";" & _ "OPTION=3;" & _ "STMT=;" conn.Open constr End Sub So how can i resolve this damned connection issue? and What are the odds that causes this? mysql vb6 remote-access share|improve this question asked Sep 10 '12 at 10:37 Berker Yüceer 2,084123978 It quite clearly says that it can't connect. Either the details are wrong or the server is not accessible from the internet. There is nothign your client code can do about it. –Deanna Sep 10 '12 at 11:44 @Deanna lol
I rectified this error after doing google and research for 3.5 Hours.I installed mysql database on my machine and I was trying to access it from the remote machine using MySQL query browser. But it was giving the error. If you are also facing the same problem then here are couple of things you can try.If you have antivirus/firewall installed then make sure that it is not blocking traffic for port 3306(default port for mysql).I have installed/configured MySQL to run as a service in windows box. If you have the same configuration, then open the Computer Management by
