Everything worked fine until I got to "Applying Security settings", at which point it gave me the above error (Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)). I do have a port 3306 exception in my firewall for 'MySQL Server'. mysql localhost mysql5 windows-firewall share|improve this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/119008/cant-connect-to-mysql-server-on-localhost-10061 question edited Dec 29 '13 at 8:33 Ian Gregory 3,67611942 asked Sep 23 '08 at 3:52 Cameron A. See the 'GRANT' syntax documentation. Here's an example (from some C source). "GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON %s.* TO '%s'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY '%s'"; That's the most common access problem with MySQL. Other than that, you might check that the user you have defined to create your instance has full privileges, else the user cannot grant privileges. Also, make sure the mysql service is started. Make sure you don't have a third party firewall or Internet security service turned on. Beyond that, there's several pages of the MySQL forum devoted to this: http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?11,9293,9609#msg-9609 Try reading that. share|improve this answer edited Feb 14 '14 at 6:54 Sathish D 2,9861628 answered Sep 23 '08 at 3:58 Chris 3,0441415 add a comment| up vote 41 down vote Got this error on Windows because my mysqld.exe wasn't running. are facing the same problem, here is what I did to solve this. The main issue is that the Windows Service used for MySQL Server is removed from System Startup. You should check that connect to there is a MySQL server running, that it has network connections enabled, and that the network port you specified is the one configured on the server.
Start by checking whether there is a process named mysqld running on your server host. (Use ps xa | grep mysqld on Unix or the Task Manager on Windows.) If there is no such process, you should start the server. In order to solve this, you need connect to mysql to reconfigure your server.First, open the application MySQL Installer - Community and click on ReconfigureLoad MoreSetup TCP/IP Port Number and FirewallLoad MoreCheck Configure MySQL Server as a Windows Service and also check Start the MySQL Server at System StartupLoad MoreApply the server configuration and your done!Load More Wamp Server / Apache not workingIn my case, WampServer worked fine after upgrading to Windows 10. However, I found that some users had issues with the Apache service (see forum). In that particular case, the solution was:Left click WampServer icon -> Apache -> Service -> Install ServiceLeft click WampServer icon -> Apache -> Service -> Start/Resume Service Facebook Twitter Google Pinterest Buffer reddit Tags: MySQL, MySQL Server, Windows, Windows 10 IvanSystems Engineer. I figured this out similarly, but I had a different MySQL data directory set. The problem with that is when you run the MySQL Installer's Reconfigure thing, it regenerates a fresh default my.ini with the default datadir. That caused the Reconfigure's applying changes fail on the last step, starting the service. However I found that since the service was reall(10061) Use this forum if you have installed hMailServer and want to ask a question related to a production release of hMailServer.
