Not sure what went wrong there, since you've clearly got parts of it. There are a number of ways of rectifying that, but I recommend just running the following: # portsnap fetch extract Then you should be able to build sudo and any other ports you want. See: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ports-using.html for the full story on getting and maintaining a current copy of the ports tree. quiet here. But I've been doing a lot of blogging at dan.langille.org because I prefer WordPress now. Not all my posts there are FreeBSD related. I am in the midst of migrating The FreeBSD Diary over to WordPress (and you can read about that here). Once the migration is completed, I'll move the FreeBSD posts into the new FreeBSD Diary https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-questions/2011-April/228941.html website. Click hereThis article has no commentsShow me similar articles I encountered the above error message when trying to install a port. This is how I fixed the above. The above error message appeared mainly because I didn't have a http://www.freebsddiary.org/bsdportmkhtm.php full install on my machine. I had done a minimal installation. I did not install the ports distribution, which requires about 400M (I think, I can't recall the figure). kennett# cd /usr/ports kennett# mkdir Mk kennett# cd Mk kennett# fetch -p ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/.2/FreeBSD/branches/-current/ports/Mk/bsd.port.mk Receiving bsd.port.mk (75202 bytes): 100% 75202 bytes transfered in 28.3 seconds (2.59 Kbytes/s) kennett# fetch -p ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/.2/FreeBSD/branches/-current/ports/Mk/bsd.port.post.mk Receiving bsd.port.post.mk (124 bytes): 100% 124 bytes transfered in 0.3 seconds (371 bytes/s) kennett# fetch -p ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/.2/FreeBSD/branches/-current/ports/Mk/bsd.port.pre.mk Receiving bsd.port.pre.mk (125 bytes): 100% 125 bytes transfered in 0.4 seconds (293 bytes/s) kennett# fetch -p ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/.2/FreeBSD/branches/-current/ports/Mk/bsd.port.subdir.mk Receiving bsd.port.subdir.mk (4351 bytes): 100% 4351 bytes transfered in 0.4 seconds (11.83 Kbytes/s) If you should happen to get a message such as this: fetch: ftp.freebsd.org: Not logged in because the server was probably full and was not allowing any more connections. Following are the contents of my ipnat.rules file. map em1 could not 192.d.e.f/24 -> 0/32 map em1 from 10.a.b.c/24 to 69.147.83.33/32 -> 0/32 rdr em0 0.0.0.0/0 port 80 -> 10.x.y.z port 3128 tcp map em1 10.a.b.c/24 -> 0/32 em1 is the external interface on my server. My thinking with the rules, was adding the map command before the rdr would prevent traffic destined for 69.147.83.33 from hitting the proxy could not find server. Unfortunately, it did not work. Is there an easy way to bypass the proxy server when accessing this one address? Thanks, Jay Next Message by Date: Problem building openssh-portable with KERBEROS, GSSAPI, KERB_GSSAPI. Valeriu Mutu
