I am trying to rename one of the fields ("oldfieldname" to "newfieldname"), but when I try to save it I get an error message saying "Could not find field oldfieldname". Clicking on "help" gives me: Could not find field . (Error 3799) A column name that does not exist is being referenced. I can't find anything that would be trying to reference this field! Anyone ever experience this? Not only did compacting it work, but it also automatically changed those fields to what I was trying to rename them to. The sad thing is, this isn't the first time that a simple "compact & repair" fixed my problem - I need to remember to do that more often! Then reconstruct the damaged table. (Or use a backup!) David Nov 13 '05 #2 P: n/a paii, Ron I am guessing that "Description" is a memo field. Every time I had problems with Compact and Repair has been because of a corrupted memo field. Confirm this by opening the table, page down though the table looking for in the description field. "DO NOT" make the corrupted record current, or Access will most likely crash. If you have a backup, restore it and check if the corruption is in the backup. If it is, you will need to recreate the table. Rename the damaged table and create a new empty one. Copy the records up-to the corrupted one using copy and paste. Continue looking at the old table for more corrupted records. Cut and paste the good ones into your new table. Manually enter t

( Could not find field . (Error 3799) ) Hi, I have a weird problem and I have no idea how to solve it as I've already wasted my whole day. I have few tables and a form (datasheet) which takes data from all of them them using query. The error occurs when I'm trying to delete filter from some fields. So for example I'm applying a filter to field number 1 (everything is ok). Now I'm trying to delete this filter and DANG this error appears. "Could not find field . (Error 3799)" I have a strong feeling that I'm doing something wrong with a source query of the form, but I can't found out what is it. I've attached a small sample of this database (sorry for its language). Repair/Compile/decompile/import/export nothing have worked so far. I really hope you could help me with this issue as I'm really getting depressed. Thank you for your time.
