I'd use search, but... Well, y'know. Every now and then when I try to could not find or load main class minecraft server launch Minecraft I get this nonsense: "Could not find the main class. net.minecraft.launcherframe The application will now close," or something to that effect. Had to recreate it from memory since the thing decided it'd be a fun prank to work right when I'm trying to get help. Sometimes the program works absolutely peachy, and when I do run into the error trying two or

three more times makes it shape up and behave. Google tells me this problem is somewhat confined to Linux systems, so I'm supposing that I couldn't be getting this on Windows 7? I have the latest Java. LAST SECOND ADDITION: Here's the error. If it is intermittent it is probably your Anti-virus scanning the file when the launcher is trying to open it, so add an exception for it. System has 8GB RAM. I followed all the directions for setting up the server (which is very simple) but when I ran the command: sudo java –Xms1024M -Xmx1024M -jar minecraft_server.1.9.2.jar nogui I got this: Error: Could not find or load main class –Xms1024M I then simply ran (after about 1 hour of hacking around trying to install different JREs): sudo java -jar minecraft_server.1.9.2.jar nogui and it worked. What is the difference and what are the possible issues by not specifying RAM? Additionally, what is a good practice for starting up the Minecraft server via SSH and letting it run in the background after disconnecting? Edit: When running java -jar minecraft_server.1.9.2.jar nogui I am seeing this output: 2016-05-08 14:30:35,683 ERROR Cannot access RandomAccessFile {}) java.io.FileNotFoundException: logs/latest.log (Permission denied) 2016-05-08 14:30:35,684 ERROR Unable to invoke method createAppender in class org.apache.logging.log4j.core.appender.RollingRandomAccessFileAppender for element RollingRandomAccessFile java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:62) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:43) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:498) Followed by an endless list of these: at kx.a(SourceFile:44) [minecraft_server.1.9.2.jar:?] at kx.b(SourceFile:54) [minecraft_server.1.9.2.jar:?] at kx.a(SourceFile:44) [minecraft_server.1.9.2.jar:?] at kx.b(SourceFile:54) [minecraft_server.1.9.2.jar:?] at kx.a(SourceFile:44) [minecraft_server.1.9.2.jar:?] at kx.b(SourceFile:54) [minecr

Here is the log link: https://gist.github.com/leongaban/08bc199c463d70b25dcc Any thoughts? minecraft share|improve this question asked Dec 21 '15 at 11:31 Leon Gaban 11616 The java HotSpot part is always there, it's not a problem. Did it work when playing online? If you haven't tried, please do. Also, with the finder, go to ~/Libary/Application Support/minecraft/versions and check if there is a folder called 1.8.9 with two files in it (one .jar and one .json). –MrLemon Dec 21 '15 at 13:00 I can play both offline and online now, after a successful wifi connection.... I think it re-downloaded some stuff and it fixed it. –Leon Gaban Dec 22 '15 at 12:49 you should make that an answer. –MrLemon Dec 22 '15 at 15:52 Just curious, because of the first line in the log saying it could not connect to libraries.minecraft.net, could you ping that hostname and see if it times out or works? ping libraries.minecraft.net Edit: just to clarify, if it needs to download files from their server and it can't, that can cause problems, but I don't know if that would cause the error in your question. –dakre18 Jan 6 at 14:24 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted After I was able to connect to Wifi again, the software updated and I was able to play online and offline with no problems.
