problem i ran {{{RESET MASTER}}} on the master db server and removed the relay files error counting relay log space from the slave. This didn't have the desired affect. >Start slave; "Error reading slave log configuration" I then banged my head against the wall. could not find target log during relay log initialization A blog documented a similar problem whereby the files master.info and relay-bin.info were both empty. And to delete them Gung-Ho I deleted the following sudo rm /var/lib/mysql/relay-log.info sudo rm /var/lib/mysql/master.info sudo rm /var/runmysqld/* Restarted slave and everything was back to normal.... apart from the data loss. master and 3 slaves. Every sunday, I restart the master mysql daemon to rotate log files (mysqld.log and slow log), I use a script for this who move log http://perplexed.co.uk/301_restoring_a_broken_slave.htm files, create new log files, chown them and then restart mysqld. On the 3 slaves there is mk-slave-restart from maatkit tool, so when the master restart, mk-slave-restart skip error on slaves. On two slaves there is no problem but on the third replication stop and I can see this error in the log file: [ERROR] Error reading master configuration http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?26,366829 [ERROR] Failed to initialize the master info structure I have to reset this slave and 'change master to' with info that are displayed into master.info and then restart the slave. Replication is ok after that. My questions are: Why slave can't continue his replication ? why this error is not present on others slaves ? Is there a way to solve this problem ? When i type slave stop; slave start; i see "ERROR 1201 (HY000): Could not initialize master info structure; more error messages can be found in the MySQL error log"When i look at /var/log/mysql.log, i see[ERROR] Failed to open the relay log '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld-relay-bin.000759' (relay_log_pos 235)080617 12:25:45 [ERROR] Could not find target log during relay log could not initialize initializationOK, "slave reset", drop databases , set MASTER etc, slave start - and replication does just fine. without any errors. Until the next time.I add to my.cnf next lines:max-relay-log-size=1Mmax-binlog-size=2Mrelay-log=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld-relay-binBut without any effect: replication may work fine long time or break at next hour.Question: how can set replication, that always work ? :)Platform: Linux Fedora 6 & 7, mysql 5.0.45, no any errors about disk or memory. Run this SHOW SLAVE STATUS\G If there is any information still being presented, you need to run this CHANGE MASTER TO master_host = ''; Then, go run SHOW SLAVE STATUS\G You should get nothing and master.info should be gone. From the MySQL 5.1 Documentation If any startup options for setting connection parameters (such as master host, master port, master user, and master password) are in use, then any corresponding connection information stored in the master.info file is immediately reset using the values specified for these options. Options for which values are not specified are cleared. However, since these options are deprecated in MySQL 5.1 and removed altogether from MySQL 5.5, you are encouraged to use a CHANGE MASTER TO statement instead to reset the connection parameters. (If you do not use the startup options, you must issue CHANGE MASTER TO in such cases if you do not want the connection settings to be cleared.) From the MySQL 5.6 Documentation Connection parameters are reset if the slave mysqld is shut down following RESET SLAVE. In MySQL 5.6.3 and later, you can instead use RESET SLAVE ALL to reset these co
