Paul Eskildsen Guest August 23rd,07:59 PM #2 Re: Xerces Panic Error Could not load a transcoding service Paul, I did a Google search on 'Xerces panic error' and it appears to be something that occurs when a program written in Xerces C++ language doesn't compile correctly. My guess is that the program didn't install cleanly, and you're going to need to uninstall and reinstall it. Before doing that, however, you might want to wait a little bit and see if anyone else on this forum with more knowledge than I responds to your question. Chuck Chuck Snyder Guest August 23rd,08:06 PM #3 Re: Xerces Panic Error Could not load a transcoding service Thanks, Chuck, for the sympathy. I've been struggling with this problem for several weeks. I have done all the usual things: Disabled Norton Anti-Virus, closed all start programs on msconfig, uninstalled, deleted all files in recycle bin, you name it. I suspect PSE 2.0 requires a particular transcoding service I don't have on my machine -- but what? Where do I get it? (I am on Win98SE) Paul Eskildsen Gue

The complete message is "Could not load a transcoding server" I am using a vista OS and to the best of my recollection I last did an update of windows before this started. Have done a search on google and found a couple of suggestions, but would like a little more clarification on the problem before I follow the advice there. I don't feel comfortable modifying registry without adequate instructions. wdohrmann, Feb 15, could not 2008 #1 Sponsor wdohrmann Thread Starter Joined: Apr 18, 2003 Messages: 46 I'm sure there a few out there who are unware of this. I describes the message and the problem, however, it is a compatiblity problem. But Vista has the ability to adapt its OS to the level needed to operate the software. The solution was very simple when I found out what the problem was and for you experienced problem solvers it will look like child's play, but for some of us less fortunate could not load it was a real a-ha for me. I was at a different forum and someone suggested that compatibility might be the problem, but did not tell me how to fix it. The solution was simple. Right Click on the program icon and go to compatibility. You can set the level you want that software to run on. Took me 5 minutes to figure it out after searcing for the answer for 3 days. wdohrmann, Feb 18, 2008 #2 douggilmore Joined: Jun 23, 2008 Messages: 2 I had a few users with Xerces Panic Error and could not understand why this was happening. The users had Sage Accpac and were using it to fill invoices. The error occurred only when they attempted to print within the program any invoice they had completed. The solution was permission based. The stated users did not have or had permissions but lost power users status on the server. Once this was given to stated users, the error went away. This is not the fix, but it is knowledge. I suggest this is most likley a permissions issue within software or with a .DLL. douggilmore, Jun 23, 2008 #3 wdohrmann Thread Starter Joined: Apr 18, 2003 Messages: 46 Thanks for the reply. I have gotten this message since I tried to load Peachtree 08 on the system. I had PT 05,but did encounter the compatibility problem again. I decided to upgrade to the PT08 and tried load the08 but it would not install In my attempt to straiten this out, I then tried to uninstall
