This discussion is locked mdfrancois Level 1 (0 points) Q: Internet Connect - Could not open the communication device I was on 10.4 for a long tim on my MacBook Pro, with no problems. I upgraded to 10.5, no problems. I was using my Sprint PC/Express EVDO card to connect to the Internet on the road, no problem. One day, it wouldn't connect. I had to remove the Novatel items from my network config, and plug the card back in so it would reconfigure itself. Again, no problem. Then the mac was put to sleep. Now, since then, everytime I open the Mac on the road, I have theInternet ConnectCould not open the communication deviceerror message, as many as 4 or 5 times, stacked.I don't have trouble connecting with over the wired Ethernet port, over the WiFi, or over the Novatel EVDO card, but I do find this constant error message from an application I can't even find on my system quite annoying.Any help is appreciated. I also did it for the bluetooth settings, I think for me that was what was causing it. Choose Apple Menu > System Preferences. 2. Choose View > Network. 3. Choose Network Port Configurations from the Show pop-up menu. 4. Deselect "USB Bluetooth Modem Adapter". 5. Click Apply Now. 6. Open Internet Connect (/Applications). 7. Choose Internal Modem from the Configure pop-up menu if it is not already chosen. If you use both a Bluetooth-compatible mobile phone and the internal modem for Internet access Be sure you first choose the appropriate device from the Internet Connect Configure pop-up menu. or you could just show it your golden knob! genie Gobshite Shiva Kymco Downtown 300i the 'Dolphin Noise' Joined: 16 Mar 2007Posts: 14824Location: London UK Tue Jul 28, 2009 5:12 am quote cheers for your speedy replies ... however, the first thing i need to figure out his how to get into 'network port configurations', as i don't seem to get the 'show' pop-up menu. i don't use a bluetooth-enabled phone to
the error message listed in the subject line when I tried using the internal modem on my g3 iBook running 10.3.9 and googled it. Scanned a couple of fora and one person with the same problem got a reply suggesting that he http://www.mac-help.com/threads/internet-connect-could-not-open-the-communications-device.80721/ open System Prefs -> Network and move Internal Modem to the top of the list. Thought I'd give this a try. Airport is listed above the Internal Modem and dragage and droppage doesn't seem to work. Any hints on that http://docklight.de/troubleshooting/ or the other suggestions? The problem is new. The internal modem was working fine before. I did notice the airport symbol in the menu bar disappeared and was able to put it back up by checking the show airport status could not in menu bar box in the airport part of internet config. Little weird. I'd checked it before and I'm certain I hadn't unchecked it. I'm using dial-up and have managed to use the modem that's incoporated in the old airport base that I'm also using. Both modem and airport base are using the same phone line. thanks, John M. John Matlaw, Jul 29, 2010 #1 Advertisements Fred McKenzie Guest In article
How To Order Online Manual Applications Support Contact Troubleshooting Troubleshooting I am using the flow control setting “RS485 Transceiver Control – Set RTS high while sending”. In Docklight V2.1 it does not set RTS to high like it did in Docklight V2.0. I have large Send and Receive Sequence lists in my Docklight projects and I want to prevent that they get accidently re-ordered by an unintended drag-and-drop. I am trying to open a USB HID connection, but I cannot get it to work. My script using DL.ConvertSequenceData for float conversion, as available in Docklight Scripting V1.9.10x, does not work any more. When trying to open a COM port, I receive an error "Windows error #31 - A device attached to the system is not functioning" or similar Docklight crashes "Internal error 1000 in module MdCommunication.printAndLogIntCommData ". The texts are cut off and some dialog elements are unreadable. I entered the license key, but Docklight still is in evaluation mode. How do I fix this? Windows does not install the driver automatically. How can I fix this? When I am using the keyboard console function, Docklight adds a new date/time stamp before each character I type. This was different in V1.7, how can I make Docklight behave like in previous versions? My script stops with an error message that says "Not allowed inside the Sub DL_OnSend() or Sub DL_OnReceive() subroutine", even though the command in question is definitively not executed within a Sub DL_OnSend() or Sub DL_OnReceive() procedure. What is wrong here? When I try to to open a COM port in Docklight, I receive an error message "The communication port COMxxx could not be opened. Windows Error #5 - Acc
