If you're still having this issue give a bit more information, what product are you working with? When are you getting this error? Generally you don't want to make any changes to the regestry of a production system without knowing exactly what you are changing. Applications which "clean" the registry can often make things way worse than they were before. If the application made a backup of the changes which were made you will want to restore those changes and reboot the server. If the application removed part of the SQL Server registry keys who knows what else it removed. If there is nobackup of the changes which were made then you will want to do a repair of the install of SQL Server. I beleive that if you drop in the CD/DVD you can run the installer and do a repair of the current install. After the install you will need to patch the server again to the same level which you are currently patched to. If this doesn't he

Started by dclary , Feb 06 2008 09:04 PM Please log could not open in to reply 1 reply to this topic #1 dclary dclary Members 54 posts OFFLINE Gender:Female Location:Delaware Local time:03:49 PM Posted 06 February 2008 - 09:04 PM Hi. I hope I am posting this in the right section. When I start Windows XP, I get the following error message, "Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (Could not open SQLEVN70.RLL) Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem". I understand that this is because of name change to the computer?? If this is correct, I never changed the name of the computer. I went to the add/remove programs but there is nothing listed that says, "SQL Server". I found a few article across the net about various ways to uninstall certain versions but I don't know what the version is. Any help getting rid of this error message would be greatly appreciated.
