Boot from your system installation disk by inserting the disk and holding down the "C" key. Next go to the second screen pull down menu, Utilities -> Disk Utility and repair the drive. Then boot from the old drive, download SuperDuper and clone the old drive onto the new one. Here's the download: http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/S... That failing, boot from the CD and install the system then try using Migration Assistant to move your data. Was this answer helpful? It has yet to fail since we've been using it which has been half a year now. Recently, a tech of ours used it and by the end of it the machine got wiped completely with a fresh install of Mountain Lion. I'm just trying to make sense of what happened here. He says he definitely clicked on the proper workflow which is titled "Restore Windows 7 x64 MAK (non-Acme)". But somehow it ran a new workflow just a few minutes after it finished titled "Restore Mountain Lion (10.8) for Students" which wipes the entire HDD and puts a fresh image of Mountain Lion on.He claims he never clicked on that second workflow and the computer simply restarted and booted into Mountain Lion instead of Windows 7. I just don't see how this could have happened. Any ideas? It's a prompt because data was lost (a whole separate issue altogether). Here is the log:==================================================================================================== DeployStudio Runtime DSCore.framework version 1.0rc133 (b120715), Copyright 2012 The DeployStudio Team.
