Could not start cluster stack Oracle Tips by Burleson March 5, 2016 Question: During a RAC install (when configuring OCFS2, using the ocfs2console GUI). When I select cluster > configure nodes I am getting th following error: "Could not start cluster stack". "This must be resolved before any OCFS2 file system can be mounted.". What do I do to resolve this could not start cluster stack error? Answer: First, remember the ocfs2 is obsolete and you may want to use another cluster filesystem. The ocfs2 was effectively obsoleted in 10g by ASM, and was re-obsoleted in release 11.2.x by ACFS. Anyway, the "could not start cluster stack" error can be due to several factors: - Missing bash profile path: Add /sbin in .bash_profile under ~ Directory as the following . . . export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$ORA_CRS_HOME/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin Then log out then back again. - Invalid ocfs2 version: Confirm that you have installed correct OCFS2 version packages, which should be matched with your running kernel version. Also, cross check and install rpm packages relevant to OCFS2:The output of following commands will be helpful. #uname -a # rpm -qa --qf "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}_%{ARCH}\\n" |grep ocfs2 - Retry using a manual install: 1. Set up cluster.conf as documented 2. As root, /etc/init.d/o2cb online - Check permissions: Check dmesg (/var/log/messages) for any relevant msgs and check permissions. - Running on an unsupported OS: Make sure tothe ocfs2console I tried to configure the nodes throughCluter tab and Configure Nodes, got the message "could not start clusterstack. This must be resoled before any OCFS2 filesystems can be mounted".Have anyone knows why I got this warning? In case you are running on standalone mode, I believe the sl4j is not in the classpath. Either way, the spark nodes are not able to find depenedent sl4j. Which mode you are running spark on? –Mohitt Feb 23 at 10:41 1 I think @Mohitt gave you the answer: community.cloudera.com/t5/Advanced-Analytics-Apache-Spark/… –Markon Feb 23 at 10:44 Thanks, I added "export SPARK_DIST_CLASSPATH=$(/opt/hadoop/bin/hadoop classpath)" in my spark-env.sh file and the probelem is gone. And I don't understand why. Thnaks a lot for your answer. –Sparrow Jack Feb 25 at 14:10 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote You need to add slf4j.api-1.6.1.jar under $SPARK_HOME/lib directory on each spark workers node as well as on spark master node. Once done please restart the master/worker process. share|improve this answer answered Feb 24 at 4:27 Jyadav 463 OK, I will try later. Thanks very much for y

In contrast, you will have an additional responsibility of managing Clusterware and troubleshooting its problems in a cluster environment. The purpose of this article is to help you understanding the basics about Clusterware startup sequence and troubleshoot most common Clusterware startup failures. Additionally, this article also wills focus on some of the useful tools, utilities that are handy identifying the root cause of Clusterware related problems. In my perspective and personal experience, the following is some of the challenges most DBAs in their cluster environment confront: Node eviction Cluster becoming unhealthy Unable to start cluster and some of the Clusterware components Clusterware startup sequence It’s worthwhile understanding how things get started or stopped while managing and troubleshooting a system. In this segment, we will closely look at how an Oracle Clusterware stack components are get started, and in which sequence they come up on a node reboot or manual cluster startup. This understanding will greatly help addressing most cluster stack common start-up failures
