Mysql Server Instance Configuration Wizard Not Responding Start Service
Huzzah! This fix is aimed at Windows Vista users, although it should be pretty much the same could not start mysql service on local computer for XP/2000. PROBLEM: The error "could not start the service mysql" pops up the moment you try to re-install MySQL server. The reason why you're getting this error is http://serverfault.com/questions/329298/could-not-start-the-service-mysql-error0-how-to-get-mysql-5-5-server-running because there are still traces of the previous installation left on your computer, that are not removed during uninstall. SOLUTION: STEP 1 - If you still have MySQL installed, go to the MySQL Server Instance Config Wizard and choose remove instance. After that, go to Programs and features in the control panel, and uninstall MySQL server. STEP 2 https://schalbroeck.wordpress.com/2009/04/22/mysql-installation-could-not-start-the-service-mysql/ - Now find the MySQL directory in your installation directory (e.g. c:\program files) and delete it. STEP 3 - Bring up a command prompt (press windowskey + r and type cmd.exe (enter)) and insert the following command: "sc delete mysql" without the brackets. After executing it should say that the service has been removed from the system. STEP 4 - Press windowskey + r and enter "%appdata%" without the brackets. Now find the MySQL folder and delete it. STEP 5 - Press windowskey + r again, enter "%programdata% and delete the other MySQL folder. STEP 6 - Open regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services, here you'll find a MySQL registry key (see screenshot), delete it. Do a search for all MySQL entries (press F3) and kill them. MySQL key in regedit (click to enlarge) STEP 7 - Now for the last step, you should search your system for any leftover MySQL directories, or "my.ini" files, and delete them. STEP 8 - Now reinstall MySQL server, I recommend installing it in a different directory t

Just downloaded the latest version of MySql 5.0.37 for Windows (mysql-5.0.37-win32.zip). On running the SETUP.EXE, the installation program fails with the error: "The https://ushastry.blogspot.com/2009/07/cannot-create-windows-service-for.html service could not be started. Error: 0". Tried following the steps as documented over here and in other places, but it still does not work. But, when I tried running the following commands from the command prompt could not (as explained in the my.ini file), there was absolutely no problem: 1. mysqld --install MySQLXY --defaults-file="C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\my.ini" 2. mysqld --defaults-file="C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\my.ini" 3. net start MySQLXY However, when I went to the Services section on My Computer, I found that MySQL and MySQLXY services, both not running at all. Tried starting them too, but this too did not solve the problem. Can anyone help me please? Thanks in advance, MANOJ KUMAR SHARMA. could not start How to repeat: Download the mysql-5.0.37-win32.zip file, and install the same on a Windows XP Professional machine, running with SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio .NET 2005. [13 Apr 2007 1:29] Miguel Solorzano Thank you for the bug report. Could you please open a DOS prompt and go to the MySQL bin\ directory and issue the below command: mysqld --defaults-file="C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\my.ini" --standalone --console and paste here the messages/errors printed. Thanks in advance. [16 Apr 2007 1:37] Manoj Sharma Hi Miguel Thanks for contacting me back. I have resolved my problem on my own. I first of all used the configuration tool to remove the database. Then, went to add/remove programs and removed mysql. After which I restarted my computer. Then went to the C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0 folder and deleted it. I also deleted the parent folder too. After which I went to the folder where I had downloaded your installation files, and deleted the same. Next I rebooted my computer once again, so that all traces or references would be cleared. And then I redownloaded the file from your website. Installed. And now, it seems to be working just fine. I have downloaded TOAD for MySQL. And it works perfectly. Thanks for all the help anyways. Regards, MANOJ KUMAR SHARMA. [16 Apr 2007 13:06] Miguel Solorzano Thank you for the feedb
Windows People often checks MySQL's download section and when they notice that there is new version of MySQL released they just can't wait for a second & starts downloading it so that they can install it on their windows box for testing purpose. Ok fine, download is completed its time to install it. Couple of successful "NEXT" and In the last step they encounter a error message such as "Cannot create Windows service for MySQL.Error:0" We are so intelligent ppl that we don't want to take any help from our colleague.. And what we do is we just delete the directory in which new installation has been done & starts the installation wizard one-more time in the hope that this time we gonna install it. Again the result is same "Cannot create Windows service for MySQL.Error:0" So why are we getting error that too at the last step? one common thought is "there must be something wrong or some sort of bug in the new release" How to resolve this error? The primary reason for this error is that you haven't properly uninstalled the previously installed MySQL server & in the installation wizard last step was to create the service with the name "MySQL" and which has the same name as that of the existing service (default is "MySQL"). Solution for this error is to first stop the service if it is running and then remove the service. C:\>NET STOP MYSQL The MySQL service is stopping. The MySQL service was stopped successfully. Once the service is stopped, it can be removed with the SC utility: C:\>SC DELETE MYSQL [SC] DeleteService SUCCESS With the previous service stopped and removed, you can now run the MySQL Configuration Wizard again to configure and start the new MySQL service. Did you stop the service before deleting? also I think you need to have administrative rights in order to add/delete services. July 21, 2009 at 9:28 AM Anonymous said...
