nodes, one for each kind of page error (403 and 404). Determine the ID number of the node you wish to redirect users to. One way to determine the node's ID number is to visit the node and look at the number after the last slash in your browser's address bar. This is your node's ID number. Now custom 404 error page returns 200 status enter the paths to your nodes in the appropriate boxes on your error reporting settings page. For example, if the node ID number for 403 error codes is "83," you would type "node/83" into the "Default 403 (access denied) page" setting. Drupal 6 mysite.com/admin/settings/error-reporting Drupal 7 mysite.com/admin/config/system/site-information Because you are creating nodes, they will show up in the tracker and popular content blocks and anywhere else real nodes would be display. If this isn't acceptable, there is a contributed module called Custom Error that avoids this problem. Also consider the Drupal 7 contributed module, Redirect 403 to User Login. Which provides redirection to the login page and configurable 403 and 404 error messages. ‹ Site configuration in Drupal 6 up Configure how users can input content › Looking for support? error pagesFirst, let's create the content that we'll use for the new error pages. For example, go to Add content > Basic page. drupal 7 custom login page Create your page as usual. In this example, I'm creating a 404 error page. You can also create a 403 error page. We need to find the paths of our new error pages. You can look in the URL https://www.drupal.org/node/15366 bar of your browser to find the paths: Step #2.Add the custom pages to the Configuration Go to Configuration > Site information: Enter your new paths into the 403 and 404 error page boxes. Click "Save configuration". Step #3.TestFinally, test to make sure they work. That's all there is to it. Congrats! Drupal makes it easy to add the custom 403 and 404 pages.Note of cautionBecause this approach uses nodes (i.e. individual pieces of content), the 403 and https://www.ostraining.com/blog/drupal/custom-error-pages/ 404 pages will show in search results. Also, anything that ranks pages based on popularity would likely display at least the 404 page.If either of the above are concerns for your site, consider using the CustomError module instead.About the author Nick is the Director of Support at OSTraining and you can find him in almost every area of the site, from answering support requests and account questions to creating tutorials and software. to configure IMCE and Wrap Up Our ProjectTranscriptAt this point, what we're doing is clean-up. And a great way to begin the process of clean-up is by clicking links on various pages and making sure that everything goes to where they should go. This is the attempt to experience https://buildamodule.com/video/build-your-first-drupal-7-web-site-how-to-configure-imce-and-wrap-up-our-project-how-to-set-a-custom-404-page-not-found-error-page-and-navigate-up-paths what a new user would experience when they come to the site. So, they come to this home page and they begin clicking on pages. The first thing they click on is "Custom tours". And we see that we have a "Page http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9446132/drupal-404-page not found. The requested page could not be found". So there's a couple of things that we could do to manipulate. First of all, we need to create a custom tours' page, at least a placeholder so that people can fill custom 404 it in later. Secondly, this "Page not found" page in not very informational. So let's go ahead and modify this error page so that we can displace something useful to the user and give them some next steps to try to find the content that they were looking for. The way we do this is by setting a custom error page on our site information page. Let's go ahead and take a look at that configuration now. I'm going to jump back to the custom 404 error browser where I'm an administrator. And I'm going to click on "Configuration" in the admin toolbar. And then I'm going to click on "Site information". Now the last time we were on this page we were configuring the "Site name" for the site, as well as the "Default front page". So this was in the very beginning of this videos' series. Now we have a couple of additional settings here that we can explore. And it's down here at the bottom under "Error Pages". And we have two inputs. One is the "Default four o three (access denied) page" and the other is the "Default four o four (not found) page". So while the default is to show this "Page not found" error on the page, we can set this page to be a custom page that we create just like other content. So let's go ahead and do that, I'm going to jump back to the admin browser and let's go ahead and create a new page. I'm going to click on "Add content" in the ... So first I wrote my own custom 404.html (outside Drupal, so it isn't part of Drupal nor of its database!) and uploaded it to my FTP server. When I browse to /admin/config/system/site-information and insert the path to this newly uploaded 404.html file it tells me that the file doesn't exist or that I don't have the permission to view it. I think the problem is that my custom page isn't really part of Drupal because I uploaded and designed it myself, outside Drupal. But does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance! html drupal http-status-code-404 share|improve this question asked Feb 25 '12 at 17:10 Bram Vanroy 8,60963079 1 I'm not entirely sure, but I think those Drupal settings just refer to a Drupal specific menu path. –mrlee Feb 25 '12 at 17:16 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted Drupal expects node paths when you're setting error pages like that. If you don't want to use Drupal nodes, you'll need to specify your 404 page in an Apache config (.htaccess probably) using the ErrorDocument directive. share|improve this answer answered Feb 25 '12 at 17:16 Karl Barker 4,9873922 Hi Karl, I edited the ErrorDocument in the .htaccess file, uploaded the file and cleared the caches, but still this doesn't work. At first the code was: # Make Drupal handle any 404 errors. ErrorDocument 404 /index.php I then edited it to: # Make Drupal ha
