Let's say we are navigating to http://website.com/pages/1 and it was to throw the custom error page error 500, by default the page would just be a blank white page with the text "Error 500 (Internal Server Error)" which would look something like: As you can see from the above, it has NOT redirected away from the page that has thrown the error. I want this page to look "a part of the website" but with PHP content included in them. I cannot include PHP content in the error pages over in the cPanel by editing the pages you see below: If I was to edit the error 500 page above, with the content below the problem would be that http://website.com/pages/1 would redirect to http://website.com/500.shtml and then in turn redirect to http://website.com/500.php I do NOT want it to redirect at all otherwise it means refreshing the page essentially will just refresh the 500.php page rather than refreshing the /pages/1 The same exact problem would exist, just without it being 2 chain redirects instead it would just be 1 redirect using the following in the .htaccess file ErrorDocument 400 http://website.com/400.php ErrorDocument 401 http://website.com/401.php ErrorDocument 403 http://website.com/403.php ErrorDocument 404 http://website.com/404.php ErrorDocument 500 http://webs
this article: This article shows you how to create customised error pages on your website on your Linux cPanel service. These can be very useful for retaining visitors who have come to your Web site via an out of date or mistyped link, as well as creating a more professional look for your Web site. How to create a Customised Error page: Firstly you should log into the cPanel Control Panel for your Web hosting account and scroll to the Advanced section. Click Custom Error Pages. Next select the domain you wish to create custom error pages and click Go. You will be presented with a list of the error pages you can edit. Clicking on the name of the error page will allow you to edit it. For example to edit the 404 error page click the link 404. You will now be presented with a large box where you can fill in the code for your error page. You can insert code snippets (e.g. requested URL is useful in a 404 error page) by clicking the relevant buttons at the top. Server side includes can be used (e.g. to include a unified page header). Once you are happy with the design of the page then fill in the file name in the box Save as: (generally you would not change this from what is there already) and click the Save button. Your custom error page will now be live. Rate this Article: Tags: cpanel, custom, error Feedback on this Article Comment require login or registration. Details Type: HOWTO Article not rated yet.
