Solved OWA error The custom error module does not recognize custom error this error. and error 440 time out Posted on 2010-10-29 Microsoft IIS Web Server Exchange SBS 1 Verified Solution 16 Comments 9,253 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-10 Hi our network is windows server standard 2008 and exchange server 2010 Recently we had issues with owa and i deleted owa from IIS7 and re-added. Unfortunately this was not that issue. it was relating to the modem custom error module anyway... After re-adding OWA in the directory it was working for a day or to. I think untill the server was restarted. Now if i try to logon externally to https://externalip/owa or https://mail.domainname.com.au/owa . I get the certificate message come up. click continue, then i get an error The custom error module does not recognize this error. Also if i try to log onto owa internally now i get another error 440 time out issue - i read a few posts saying 440 authentication error but my error doesnt mention authentication at all. though the messages i read are for exchange 2007. if i go to https://externalip i get the IIS7 screen appear. Also if i go https://externalip/ts i get the remote desktop screen come up sucessfully. 0 Question by:cybertechcomputers Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution bycybertechcomputers I have resolved the issue, what i done was updated exchange 2010 to service pack 1. Then opened EMC and under server, client access, it has reset virtual directory. I reset owa and ecp. Worked 100% after Go to Solution 16 Comments LVL 20 Overall: Level 20 Microsoft IIS Web Serve

In some cases, this message appears if a user tries to navigate in owa after the timeout period rather than re-present the login window. No real pattern as users have complained of this using safari, firefox, and IE. The error tells me nothing and the logs even less. I should mention that this is a single-role CAS server running on Windows 2008, IIS7. Users with issues are accessing exchange 2003 mailboxes on a windows 2003 beck-end server. Not sure yet if this affects those accessing exchange 2007 mailboxes.
