MS Outlook is a dominating email application making it incredibly simple for users to send/receive emails and to do many other activities. For all Outlook users, it is beneficial to know its major component i.e. PST file, commonly known as Personal Folders file. The file resides on the computer locally, consisting of all http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/recover-outlook/outlook-pst-fix-data-error-cyclic-redundancy-check-55861 Outlook data items. However, due to some problems, you might encounter various errors, one of which is as follows: “File pathfilename.pst could not be accessed. Data error. Cyclic redundancy check.” The error may crop up when MS Outlook attempts to download email messages to your computer. Root Cause of the Error: You may come across the error if your PST file is corrupt. Resolution: You need not to worry! There is a solution to deal with the problem. Let’s see what you can do. Perform a Hard Disk Check for Errors: Do the following: 1. Click ‘Start’ button, click ‘Run’, in the box, type cmd and then press Enter. 2. When the command prompt opens, type chkdsk/f and press Enter. Please note you may see the following error message: The type of the file system is NTFS. Cannot lock current drive. Then chkdsk cannot run as the volume is being used by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)In this case, press Y and restart your system. 3. Close command prompt once chkdsk stops. 4. Open Outlook. If you find that the problem still persists, recreate the PST described in the next section. Recreate PST FileYou can recreate PST file by following the given st
indicate a problem with Outlook itself but a problem with the place on the hard disk where your pst-file is located. When this occurs after you have just copied the pst-file https://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/crcerror.htm (on disk, from network, from CD, by download) you should first verify that the original source still works and try to copy it again. If this has happened "all of http://www.idganswers.com/question/15327/how-to-fix-cyclic-redundancy-error-in-outlook a sudden" like in that it still worked yesterday, the issue can be either software based or hardware based. Software based disk issuesIf it is software based you can fix cyclic redundancy it by opening Start-> Run; chkdsk c: /f (replace c: with the drive letter on which your pst-file is located)When it tells you that it currently cannot check the disk and asks you if want to perform a diskcheck at next reboot choose Yes (Y) and reboot your computer. When you are done, run scanpst.exe against your pst-file to check if cyclic redundancy check this fixed it.Hardware based disk issuesWhen the issue is hardware based, you are probably going to find Disk Errors in the System log of your Event Viewer. You can access the Event Viewer by going to; Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event ViewerUnless you've got a really old hard disk and/or motherboard they will probably both support S.M.A.R.T. In that case, you can then install a utility that monitors your disks health. I use SpeedFan for this as it is free and it also monitors your systems temperatures and fan speed (wow, where would that name come from?).Most common attributes that are shown here and their meaningErrorMeaningIn order to fixUltraATA CRC Error Ratewhen this got a low value it means more errorstry replacing the cablingRead Error Ratelow values means that there is something wrong with the disk surface or the headsreplace the diskWrite Error Ratelow values means that there is something wrong with the disk surface or the headsreplace the diskRecalibration Retrieslow values means that there is something with the placing of the headsreplace the diskSpin Retry countlow values mean that
