Dvd Shrink Error Failed To Read File
tried it and failed, cleaned dvd & dvd drives - no luck, even tried something called claddvd to get past it, nothing, my question is are there dvds that can be ripped, I dont think this is a bad disc since I can play dvd shrink cyclic redundancy check error fix or maybe I'm wrong - help? weehawk, Nov 8, 2004 #1 ScubaPete Senior member Joined: Mar 13, 2003 Messages: 6,324 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 116 Hi weehawk, welcome to aD, A "CRC" error is most often caused by bad media - it could be any of the following: 1. A dirty disc, 2. A scratched disc 3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work) 4. A bad disc from the Mfgr. It can also be from a cyclic redundancy check dvd copy bad optical component in your drive. At this time I don't believe it's your drive at all. If you recently purchased this disc new from a store, I would return it as defective if just cleaning and the proper use of DVD Decrypter doesn't get the job done. I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says, "Ignore read errors". This is an excellent setting for dealing with scratched discs which may cause ripping problems. Some people like ripping with DVD Decrypter using the "File" "Mode" BUT, especially for episodel-type DVD's, I feel that nothing can beat ripping the DVD using the "ISO", "Read", "Mode". After you've ripped your disc using the "ISO" "Read" "Mode", open DVD Shrink go to File", "Open Disc Image " to locate your ISO image - after allowing DVD Shrink to load up the image, just process it as usual then burn to disc using your burner of choice. HINT: If you are going to burn with DVD Decrypter, DON'T FORGET TO - go back to DVD Decrypter after ripping, to reset the "Mode" from "ISO - Read" to "ISO

Are the original dvd's retail store bought (pressed) ? Dvd Shrink is waaaaay old and has not been updated to deal with newer copy protections http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/333596-Backing-up-using-the-DVD-Shrink in YEARS as far as ripping is concerned!!!! If you are trying to open and rip them from your drive with Dvd Shrink that is probably your problem. Newer copy protections for pressed retail dsic's is updated many times a year. Rip with something that is updated on a regular basis to deal with newer copy protections like dvdfab decrypter then open with dvd shrink to transcode to fit on a SL dvdr. I guess what I need to know is... do I use the HD Decrypter to burn the main movie to the HD and then use DVD Shrink and then burn or write it from there to a DVD blank disc ? I don't drink, but after reading this post I understand why you would think I was Noahtuck. I sometimes have a hard time explaining my problem, but sometimes these Bill Gates on here throw so much crap out there it is very confusing. I will lay off the booze! LOL! The error message I'm getting is Failed to read file E / Data error cyclic redundancy check. Before I was cyclic redundancy burning through Drive C with no problems now it will not complete the analysis process. I need to know how to get back to burning or analysing through drive C. When I try to open file C, it says file can not be opened/found. Sep 23, 2009 #1 strategic TechSpot Paladin Posts: 1,020 "cyclic redundancy check" usually is caused from bad media. HAve you tried a different disc? Maybe the lens on your reader is dirty, have you tried cyclic redundancy check running a cleaning disc in the dvd burner? Sep 23, 2009 #2 SNGX1275 TS Forces Special Posts: 10,689 +395 That will happen on some disks even if they are perfect, I always attributed it to a form of copy protection dvdshrink can't deal with. Try and rip it with dvddecrypter first, to a folder, then point dvdshrink to the folder. This of course assumes you own the disk.. Sep 24, 2009 #3 captaincranky TechSpot Addict Posts: 11,424 +1,752 Copy protection strategy is updated almost monthly. As a result, neither DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter are able to cope with many current discs. While as SNGX1275 suggests, DVD Decrypter is more potent than DVD Shink, it isn't the answer to issues with many recent discs, and some "failed to read" errors will also be observed when using it. However, DVD Decrypter also possesses the ability to rip a DVD in ISO mode, which comes in handy from time to time. Sep 24, 2009 #4 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.) I am using DVDshrink 3.1.7.6. backing up DVDs is flawless, but i have one problem. when i try and backup a particular dvd, it keeps giving me an error: DVD Shrink encountered an error & cannot continue. Failed to read file "E:\" Data error (cyclic redundancy check). I have no idea what this error means. what does it mean, and is there a way to overcome this problem?? I've also tried to use DVDdecrypter, and that also gives me errors too. its weird, but i can play the dvd on my comp and on the TV dvd player perfect. by the way, i'm pretty new to backing up DVDs. Thanks in advance. NobbyNobbs16th March 2004, 00:37The error is probably a physical error on your DVD, try cleaning it, if that do not work, you probably is out of luck (see how important it is with a backup ;-) ) wildman16th March 2004, 00:46Getting same errors with both pieces of software what dvd burner are you using? I have an optorite 0203 cho0816th March 2004, 01:50i'm using LiteOn LDW-411S. hmm.. yea.. hopefully a clean of the DVD will make it work. otherwise i'll cry. daddy_fizz16th March 2004, 03:20like was mentioned before, you will frequently get these errors if you have dirty or scratched disks... ~Fizz pippocalo16th March 2004, 18:09your DVD must be clean and also of good quality. The error "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)" is due to Hw error in reading data from DVD. The TV DVD player is able to play because have not the error check while reading; check that is present in the player of the PC. If the error is very little your are unable to see it in your TV but the DVD reader of your PC don't allow to extract data that contain errors. When the errors became great both player stop the operations. Bye nefelodamon21st March 2004, 17:45First post here:) (Sorry for my bad English) When I get such kind of error I use DVD Decrypter and toggle the "Ignore read errors" ON, and raise the value of "Software read errors retries" from 20 to 40 (These options are in the I/O tab in "tools-->settings" ) If you are lucky enough you may get able to rip it :) BUT there is a chance of ending up with a corrupted file that works fine till the read error. Use this if nothing else work. jippiejajee23rd March 2004, 00:17ignore read errors on is sufficient, suggest to set read retry to 1 as it will take otherwise long time to rip as each sector which can not be read dvddecrypter will retry to retry as much as you have specified as it is unreadable this makes little sense. DVD decrypter will take its time as it stops at each read error for some seconds and then g
