that is usually caused by either a scratched or dirty disk or a laser misalignment on a DVD drive !! -- Look closely at the disc and see if there are any scratches\dirt on it that might be the cause - if they are not too bad try cleaning the disk and retry the install -- If there are bad scratches you may need to take the cyclic redundancy error utorrent disk to a movie rental store and have them resurface the disk (usually costs about $5 or so. If the disk looks fine try reading some other disk in the DVD drive and see if it is working. (but in 19 out of 20 times it is a scratch on the disk that effects the DVD from being read correctly !!) m 0 l Can't find your answer ? Ask ! Just recently I tried installing oblivion back onto it and every time it almost finishes installing I get an error.I can't http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/924363-the-elder-scrolls-iv-oblivion/49461026 remember the exact file that the error occurred on but i do remember the error. It said Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check). Are there any ways of fixing whatever the problem is? My hardware hasn't changed so I wouldn't imagine that that's the problem. I run Windows XP Professional with service pack II. I also have more than enough memory to install it several times over.If someone has got any advice or help, I would be immensely grateful. If it ain't broke, I'll break itUser Info: Kiwi_1Kiwi_1 7 years ago#2You should already know enough not to blame that on any game. Your optical drive itself is defective or dirty, or the disk is damaged / dirty. Very simple. Kiwi* *User Info: randomrazielimrandomrazielim (Topic Creator)7 years ago#3Thanks. The disk is fine. I'll clean out the disk drive tomorrow. If it ain't broke, I'll break itBoardsThe Elder Scrolls IV: OblivionCyclic Redundancy CheckReport MessageTerms of Use Violations: Offensive Advertising Illegal Activities Spoiler with no Warning Harassment/Privacy Etiquette Issues: Censor Bypassing Trolling Flaming Disruptive Posting Off-Topic Pos
