can also access it with windows media player, but dvd shrink will always give me an error when processing it, I've searched the threads and found the scuba pete guide, downloaded DVD decrypter, tried dvd decrypter it and failed, cleaned dvd & dvd drives - no luck, even tried something called claddvd to get past it, nothing, my question is are there dvds that can be ripped, I dont think this is a bad disc since I can play or maybe I'm wrong - help? weehawk, Nov 8, 2004 #1 ScubaPete Senior member Joined: Mar 13, 2003 Messages: 6,324 Likes Received: 0 dvd decryptor Trophy Points: 116 Hi weehawk, welcome to aD, A "CRC" error is most often caused by bad media - it could be any of the following: 1. A dirty disc, 2. A scratched disc 3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work) 4. A bad disc from the Mfgr. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive. At this time I don't believe it's your drive at all. If you recently purchased this disc new from a store, I would return it as defective if just cleaning and the proper use of DVD Decrypter doesn't get the job done. I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box whi

The error message I'm getting is Failed to read file E / Data error cyclic redundancy check. Before I was burning through Drive C with no problems now it will not complete the analysis process. I need to know how to get back to burning or analysing through drive C. When I try to open file C, it says file can not be opened/found. cyclic redundancy error Sep 23, 2009 #1 strategic TechSpot Paladin Posts: 1,020 "cyclic redundancy check" usually is caused from bad media. HAve you tried a different disc? Maybe the lens on your reader is dirty, have you tried running a cleaning disc in the dvd burner? Try and rip it with dvddecrypter first, to a folder, then point dvdshrink to the folder. This of course assumes you own the disk.. As a result, neither DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter are able to cope with many current discs. While as SNGX1275 suggests, DVD Decrypter is more potent than DVD Shink, it isn't the answer to issues with many recent discs, and some "failed to read" errors will also be observed when using it. However, DVD Decrypter also possesses the ability to rip a DVD in ISO mode, which comes in handy from time to time. Sep 24, 2009 #

The reason i back up is i buy my young kids dvds regularly and as you can understand the discs get scratched and gewt sticky fingerprints on them therefore what i do is give them a backup copy and keep the origonal disc safe. Anyway my problem is ive beeen getting errors recently sometimes the burn fails and sometimes i get the error message "cyclic Redundancy error" its only started happening recently and im at a loss as to what the problem is . Does anyone know ? or failing that is there another free program thats as straightforward as dvd shrink? and as reliable as it used to be? could the problem be down to new copy protection tecniques? I really need to solve this as ive just bought three new dvds for my daughter and i dont want them ruined , Thanks in advance for any help Asrock 4coreDual-vsta Core2 duo 4300(1.8ghz)-@ 2.4ghz 2 GB DDR2 Ram 8600GT Win 7 Reply Reply With Quote September 26th, 2005,09:06 AM #2 XKILLR View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries Visit Homepage Member Join Date Sep 2004 Posts 180 There is nothing wrong with your software and there is nothin you can do about it. DVD's are now being slowely equiped with a new protection called rip guard. I used various programs, such as: dvd shrink, dvd decrypter, dvd x copy, to get around it but none work at the time.
