Cyclic Redundancy Check
March 27, 2013 5:36:24 AM I've been using uTorrent for quite a while to download cyclic redundancy error utorrent things, but I've just recently built my PC - been about 6 months. Dude called Proximon helped me out, really nice guy and in

the end the build turned out fine. Regardless, since then I've been using uTorrent a lot, and yesterday whilst downloading a torrent, I got an error - Data error (cyclic redundancy check) - just before the error popped up, dvd shrink cyclic redundancy error fix what I believe to be my hard disk made a really weird noise, almost like it was choking. Hard drive has been fine since, and everything seems to be working, I used Auslogics Repair Disk feature and there weren't any errors, can't seem to get chkdisk going though - even when I attempt to force a dismount. Only thing I'm worried about is the HDD dying, it's only been a few months and I should have it covered cyclic redundancy error windows 8 under warranty, but my question is, is this a definite sign that my HDD is dying? Also, you didn't mention the make/model of the drive. Anyhow, go to the drive manufacturer's web site and download their drive tool (seagate = seatools, WD = WD lifeguard,...) and run some tests on the drive. If it fails the drive manufacturer's tests and it's still under warranty you should have no problems getting an RMA. Also, if you have concerns, start backing up data now. like your hard drive and optical disks like CDs and DVDs). A cyclic redundancy check error can be caused by several different issues: registry corruption, a cluttered hard disk, http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1636176/cyclic-redundancy-check.html an unsuccessful program installation, or misconfigured files. Regardless of the specific cause, the cyclic redundancy check error is a serious one and must be addressed to avoid potential data loss or even a total system failure system. Luckily, there are a few simple ways to address this problem using (free) disk utility software.[1] Steps Method 1 Running the CHKDSK http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Cyclic-Redundancy-Check-Error Utility 1 Access the CHKDSK utility. CHKDSK (or "check disk") is a built-in Windows utility that will scan and repair your drive's errors. It has the ability to find and repair a number of small errors or file corruptions that may be causing the cyclic redundancy error. Right click the drive you want to check, then click Properties->Tools. Under “Error Checking” click “Check Now”. If a CD or DVD disc is giving you this error it may be the result of a scratch or some dust. Try cleaning the disk with a soft cloth before anything else. Optical disk errors are often not repairable. If you get this error on a Mac (less common), first try the built-in Disk Utility and “Repair” the disk. 2 Decide on a basic versus an advanced scan. Check boxes to indicate if you’d like to do a basic check and repair or an advanced one - the default is the basic scan. The basic scan should take around 15-20 minutes while the advanced scan may take hours. Make sure you’

Also I hope this blog translates to others as a picture of a common man, who is not free from errors, who is learning http://xenonxm.blogspot.com/2009/08/utorrent-data-error-cyclic-redundancy.html and wants to offer his experience to others. Sunday, August 16, 2009 uTorrent: Data error (cyclic redundancy check) For all those have been confounded by this error while downloading torrents, all the available blogs and posts on this suggests, your hard disk has gone for a toss. Delete the existing download, re-download.Kind of frustrating, really frustrating. My experience differs a bit. While in truest sense it is always true, that this error is coming due to read errors from your hard drive, it is not cyclic redundancy always true that it is a undo-able physical error on your disk. It could be a logical one. This means, there's still chance for you. Breath and schedule a scan on your drive the next time Windows (I was using XP professional, SP 2) starts. This again depends on which drive you got the error on. If its the one which the operating system is having exclusive access to, you have to schedule the check, the next time your OS loads. If its a secondary drive, cyclic redundancy error you can do it with few clicks only without a re-boot.If you are lucky, Windows would correct the error, and you'll have your download back, right from where it got screwed up.Summary: While Data error (cyclic redundancy check) could really mean, its bye bye for your partially complete torrent download, its always not true. If you are lucky, the error is logical one and is very much correctable. Don't loose heart, just give a try and you might recover it from where it got corrupt.Cheers! I am just so grateful that I came across your post before actually deleting my 2 GB torrent file, and worst, doubting the intergrity of my 6 months old 500 GB hard-drive.Just as you mentioned, although it could be the result of 'real' physical damage to the HDD, it was, in my case, luckily, the result of logical errors.Right clicking on C: and in TOOLS scheduling the ERROR CHECK with FIX ERRORS and stuff did the trick.THANKS A TON ONCE AGAIN FOR MAKING THE data cycle redundancy errors IN TORRENT WORLD A MORE OPTIMISTIC SITUATION :) September 13, 2009 at 9:48 PM Anonymous said...
