needed space on my laptop). Every thing was fine until recently when I plugged in the hard drive and it did not appear. After various attemtps to plug back in, reinstall drivers Turbo USB etc I checked the Disk can't initialize disk cyclic redundancy check MAnagement and I could see the drive but it was not initialized. So I tried to get the disk to inititialize but I got the Cyclic Redundancy Error Check. I have tried various programs to check the drive for bad sectors but the problem when even booting it directly from floppy (inc the drivers for the USB ports) the disk is not recongised as being there. The only two places it appears when it is plugged in is external hard disk data error cyclic redundancy check the dik management and in devices.I don't know if this is important but my cat at one point knocked the drive over onto a hard surface a few days prior to the problem.I really don't want to lose the hours spent riping all my CD's on to the drive. :(Please does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can eith fix this or at the very least get me to the point where I can transfer all my data off the drive onto another?Thank you very much Tuesday, June 30, 2009 11:26 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. Based on my research, Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) is bit of mathematics used to ensure that your data is OK when being transfered. It's a checking procedure that quickly identifies when data has been damaged. If you get this message, it means that the file being read by your PC or software is corrupted. However, it does not mean all the data is lost forever. When data is transferred, it is usually in small blocks and each block is given a CRC value. If something goes wrong with the data between the time it leaves the source and arrives at its destination, the CRC sent at the source will no longer match the one that is calculated wh

Thanks for reply Lighthouse I tryed that MiniTool software, and i got pretty good results! First, quick scanned succesfully for lost partitions and than it shows me what it found (2 partitions) and thats great!! But, when i succesfully finished and apply at the end, nothing happens! : ( And, i saw that 2 partitions are on "Lost/Deleted" Status. Maybe i must fix Master Boot Record on my hdd.. ? I tryed in command prompt to fix that and it succesfully fixed! But, maybe is there other way to do that. I'm convinced that something like "volume" is needed to my hdd. I dont know what is it actually.. Reports: · Posted 3 years ago Top germ-x Posts: 5310 This post has been reported. Toshiba internal hard disk on my Samsung computer and recently it becomes really strange. It is not found in My Computer and also shows an unknown not initialized drive in Disk Management. When I try to initialize it there, an error message just pops out and says:"…data error cyclic redundancy check…" Please help me out. This drive really still contains much important computer data yet! Thank you in advance! Situation2: Hey, hope you can give me useful suggestions! Honestly, recently, I have purchased a new WD internal hard disk for my desktop computer and try to initialize it before moving anything important there. However, when I attempt to start the formatting process in Disk Management, I am given two options: MBR & CPT. When I randomly choose one to go on the initializing process, it says data error (CRC). What does that error means? What should I do to rescue this hard disk? Thanks! Hello, from my understanding, this hard disk Cyclic Redundancy Check (also shortly called CRC) data error is most likely aroused by hardware issues in most cases. Therefore, in your case, you'd better go check your hard disk and see what you can do to fix the possible problems. Go read more detailed information here. Why Hard Disk Gets Such CRC Data Error Problems? Generally, there Cyclic Redundancy Check is a common computer function that helps detect the possible errors of your computer data transformation. Once your PC system cannot finish the CRC on your PC or hard disk, it often will repeatedly copy and paste data to your drive and makes your desired hard disk operations impossible. Moreover, the CRC data error problems often happen due to many reasons, including 1). Computer hardware issues As with such CRC data error issues, many of them are caused by damaged or corrupted computer hardware, like your Toshiba internal hard disk, CD or DVD drives, etc. Therefore, when such errors happen to you, go check the PC hardware carefully. 2). Computer system crash Of course, when your computer system i
